What's a butt splice connector? The wire repair is pretty strong at and I'm happy with it. I've got it worked out that it's that section. Of wires on the top of the frame that end up under the tank, and I believe that tank on top them is causing a short. I could put the 2inch tank lift back on and I believe the problem would be solved but I really don't like the look of it not the effect it has on handling. All the other fuses are to the side of the frame evenly and beneath the tank. The dilemma is the bundle of wires over the frame and how I go about relocating them under the tank. Also sorry I'm not great with all this, when you say the backboneso you mean the top bar of the dram that the tank sits on? Also what is a multimeter? Sorry about my inexperience with these things guys and thanks for your patience and advice.

I'm almost ready to throw in the towel and take it into the local Harley Heaven and see what they will charge to remove all the plugs and solder and heatwrap all the wires together. Either that or if I'm lucky a kind forum member on here named Terroristone offered to take a look and give me a hand.

There you go S_W..... someone who's willing to give up some of their time to help out. Let T1 give it an eyeball and a wiser mind will sort it out. BTW that joint you repaired looks like your dog did it!!! Just some honest criticism - it does need to be repaired and your ignorance of a butt splice connector and multimeter can be dispelled by the use of Google.

My wiring experience was gained on combat aircraft and is founded on military specifications so when I gave you some advice regarding your attempt at repairing your wiring joint - it was to ensure the integrity and longevity of the joint and not just a quick fix doomed to failure. If you do not have the expertise, do not attempt it. Ask for help - watch and learn. T1 has offered help - watch and learn.

GOOD NEWS! Got the tank off today, got those wires off the top of the back bone and tucked away under the back bone properly, tank went on much easier. Fired her up and went down the road for about 15 minutes, had to refuel and headed home. No problems at all, hopefully this issue is solved. I don't know why i didnt just get those wires off the backbone top to start with, silly me. thanks for all your advice and feedback, cheers guys.

Special thanks to Terristone for the offers of help and advice, much appreciated, hit me up if your keen to go for a ride one day mate, would be great to meet a fellow rider that is so local.

Good news mate but keep an eye on things it may have been a plug under too much stress or one or more wires could have an internal break may pay to have it checked out still. You dont want to end up stranded miles from home.

And like the hand guards! Looks mad nice work

Yeah I figured it was the tank weighing down on those wires on the top of the backbone, causing it to short as the wires were prolly getting crimped. What a nightmare, glad its over! Yeah those handguards are pretty sweet, picked them up for something like $70 online which is preety good value as I've seen them elsewhere for up to $150, there called cage crackers hehe. I can try and track down the site I got them from if you like.

Nice lookin bike there S W and good on the boys havin the patience to help you out.

On a different note,  if i were you, i would take the silly death squad stickers and the like off. It would look much better IMHO and you wont get any funny looks or stares from "real bikers".
Just tryin to help you so you don't get abused, so don't take it the wrong way. Have fun riding the good thing.

Nah I like the stickers on and in my opinion it looks better with them on, it's also my bike so I'll do with it as I please. Funny looks nor abuse from anybody doesn't bother me as all I've ever gotten is compliments and anyone with a problem with me or my bike is more than welcome to approach me and voice there issue. I'm not sure what you mean by 'real bikers' but if your trying to say Club members that doesn't concern me either as I have several friends that you may define as 'real bikers' and they don't have any issue with any stickers on my bike...  thanks for your opinion and 'advice' though.
