I went with Shannon's and declared all the mods - helps keep the agreed value.

I had to do a claim with them for my car a couple of years ago and found they were good to deal with.

BTW - They are all helpful until it comes time to claim !!!

Don't have mine insured, always wondering whether it should be or not.

Had the bike 19 years, and based on $800 per year, I might have paid $15,200 by now. That's about market value, I'd guess.....

I am with Swann and they have looked after me.

I listed every single nut and bolt that I have added to the bike, with pics and sent it them asking for them to insure it for $40K. 20 minutes later I get an email back with my new monthly fee rate and a statement to say EVERYTHING is insured - and now for $40K. NICE!!

So I have updated my mods on my insurance (QBE). Mods are really only minor like new z-bars, tank lift, coil & key relocation and seat mount with leather seat.
Planning on chopping the rear fender and maybe putting some biltwell struts on her. Anyone done these types of mods and insurance them, or had trouble insuring them? Oh and have you don't this work yourself or had the work done by a professional?

Unless people are flat arsed broke and don't mind declaring bankruptcy you'ld have to be insane not to at least insure against damage you do.

Hit any of these new cars and expensive just won't describe it. I would have to hit even a clubsport - and that's just an expensive taxi!!

I just bought my FXDF new and HD Insurance (through Swann) were about $4 more than IMR and they have all the mods I put on before delivery, about $6k worth. Interestingly, I tried to get a quote from Shannon's but they wouldn't even let me go through the quote process online because the bike was worth more than $20k.
WTF is the go with that? Anyone else had that issue?

Shannons suck! They wouldn't even look at my bike - so fuckem - I give my money to Swann, whom have looked after me at every turn. I ring the at the end of every year and they end giving me a better price that is on the paperwork that is automatically sent out by the insurance system. They have insured every mod at the agreed value that I wanted, and I pay them by the month. Can't ask for more. :)
