Whinging Neighbors - Noise

I push mine down the driveway every time. Since its right next to two fences and under carports it sounds 10 times louder in there. When I come home I ride up to the gate, find neutral and shut it down.

If the cops let you know who dobbed you in it would be one thing (the right to face your accusers? Yeah right.) but this anonymous BS is just a money spinner for the government and payback for ass hole neighbours. I know people who are people pulled over and getting notices all the time - I'd rather enjoy riding.

And speakin`of eating dick , mick that jibe about the SS Commodore was totally uncalled for , fair suck of the sav mate , stock they are actually quieter than the average VW bug i reckon , i try my best to be courteous whilst negotiating traffic in me Phantom Black 6ltr 6spd family Sportwagon , so how is that wound of yours anyhow , not an axe type wound is it , need some more salt rubbed into it , Hahaha ?
Had to laugh today hey , couldn`t help but overhear this chick on the bus (i got sin`binned 3 months for bein`a tool on the super roadie , i guess), ramin`it up FORD over the phone , apparently her new ford motor car stops going when it gets to half a tank and vibrates severely when taking off , she wasn`t a very happy camper that`s for sure , she says what d`ya mean `what sorta fuckin fuel i put in it , then they musta told her to bring it in , she yells `i can`t , it runs out of fuel at `alf a tank i told ya , you come and pick the fuckin thing up , i thought you were supposed to help she said , there`s another thread here abouts that has people that have had dramas with their new fords too , if only they`d bought a bloody Holden hey ?

I don't stop and then start my bike, I start it as I'm rolling down my own driveway and keep riding on, so I'm minimising time I'm stationary creating unnecessary noise. For me it's making an effort not to be a annoying. Sitting there warming up a bike at any time is annoying to others and myself. You have the right peace and quite in your own home! This is why I have a good relationship with all my neighbours not just the ones next to me, respect and talk to them before they need to talk to you!

    Wow,
In NSW you have the right to enter and exit your property under power as I had a complaint lodged against me a couple of years ago with my Trans Am.
I checked with State Authorities, wrote a nice letter about only accessing my Garage and never heard anymore.
You can complain about excessive noise and usually the local councils side with the complainant.
The biggest noise complaints are about Air conditioners, Music and Motorcycles.
I also minimise the time I am running the bike when entering or leaving my property.
I drop into neutral at the top of my street and coast down to my driveway where I shut down.

Carwelder this is not to be a dick outside your place but simply to minimise the impact on my neighbors who get affected each and everytime I ride.
I dont think I would affect anyone else even close to that much.
I run SE11's which I stripped down and modified to reduce the overall loudness while deepening the note to something I like. They still run at about 99.4 Db which is over the noise level allowed but not by much.

I also dont do burnouts, back off excessively (Backfire/Popping) or unnecessarily, but my bike is loader than my neighbors Kia and as a good neighbor I minimise impact on him, but dont tell me its at your expense because it simply isnt.

    Anyway ride safe everyone
    Nigel

Hey Mick , next to Crocadile Mick , Graham Kennedy has got to be one of my or favourite funniest Australian movie stars , the Occa attitude on this site sometimes reminds me of "The Odd Angry Shot" that he starred in , a bit camp but a funny prick all the same , should be more of it i reckon , lifes too short to be tooo serious about shit , but we`re all different hey !
Man , if people are worried about the sound their bike makes or worried about what their nieghbors might think of their bikes noise , maybe it is a bit loud , it seems a bit much though hey , i like the sound of my current ride and i reckon me neighbor does too with sedate but still noticable monster ovals , past rides were much louder and used to leave for work at 6am start`er up and ride away normally , it doesn`t even cross my mind to worry about if it`s too loud or if my neighbor could care less or not too , it is what it is , my neighbor could come home in a chopper each day for all i care and i`d still say G`day , it`s only noise and for a short time , though if they didn`t like it , i would fully expect and appreciate if they said so , it`s been so long i really don`t think they even see it as a bad thing , i actually can`t think of a better noise to wake up to , than a Harley ?

I do agree scotti, it's the knobs that warm up for 10 minutes and unnessarly rev the bike/car in that time, starting up and riding/driving off is not the issue I believe.

I start up then roll down my driveway and pretty much idle up the street. My neighbours have never whined (well, not directly to me) and i have never recieved a letter from the council. A few months ago we had new neighbours move in just a couple doors up and guess what?... he's got a Harley. Further guess what is he also likes to redline it through the gears and every chance he gets... and it's loud, fuckin' real loud. I saw him out the front one day so i went over to introduce myself and just have a chat about life, the universe and loud bikes. Well, it turned into a loud coversation as the bloke is a choice wanker and now he makes a point of revving the fuck out of the bike before he moves off and peaks it through the gears.i have a feeling this is going to get ugly before it gets better.

Take the baffles out or whatever to make the pipes really loud and rev the crap out of it at 5am. THEN put the baffles back in quietly ride down the street. They will never complain again. Pandering to them only makes it worse and when they understand what seriously loud actually is they will appreciate your efforts to keep it reasonable - worked in my street.
