Well, received a letter today from the Wanneroo Shire,
"Regarding excessive noise being caused by the revving of a motorcycle engine at the above property.
The complaint alleges that the vehicle is reved at the above property for 15 to 30 minutes at approx 5:30am each morning, causing excessive noise which is adversely affecting the complaint." Blah blah blah.
Funny thing is I have only ridden the bike to work twice since May 2012 and certainly don't sit there revving for 15+ minutes, and I leave just before 5am. Lucky I didn't get the V&H big radius I was originally planning on getting.
Some people just have it in for bike riders unfortunately. They make shit up to make the story 10 times worse than what it originally was. What do you do now? visit the neighbors and complain about their noisy dog, stop riding? No good huh.
I've got no problems with my neighbours, I just be as discreet as possible, no hassles.
I'm afraid the neighbors (across the road) have always been whingers for the whole 12 years we have been here. They don't get on with anyone in the neighborhood. When the kids were younger we even had the cops knocking on the door due to em kicking the footy around out the front.
Terroristone and Normthe1, I do the same when leaving, especially if leaving early (once last year and once this year) I roll out the shed, start up and ride off gently and riding in suburbia I take it easy. Actually I take it pretty easy all the time now a days, love just cruisin. And at the end of the day the Screamin Eagle Mufflers arn't very loud at all.
FLHuTCHU, 10 times worse than what it originally was is an understatement.
yes some neibours winge for the sake of winging, got nuthing better to do and like others, i am sensible when riding around the neibourhood, buts its the fuckwits on harleys that dont give a fuck and like nothing better to do than stir up the street. and you wonder why the epa is fining the fuck out of everyone. Then the problem occurs that posters like first post who rode his bike only twice at that hour are immediately tarred with the same brush that some dickheads that still think its cool to run with near straight out pipes at all hours in local neibourhood.
Good to hear about all the riders been so considerate of their neighbours-but they don't seem to care about anyone living a little further away. Reading your posts you seem to be admitting your exhaust noise is loud and excessive but you don't give a damn as long as you do it in my street and not yours.I get the blame and not you. Thanks
My next door neighbour is a copper, he is impressed with how quietly I leave via our back lane (on either bike, 6am almost every day of the week)..........yeah I am waiting for the letter in the mailbox. Hahahaha
I have been riding for 42 years-first bike was triumph speed twin. There are a number of people on the road and one on this forum that seem to think the same. If your the sort of badass that rolls your bike down the driveway and down the road only to start it up in front my house or my neighbours then I suppose we will just have to live with that for fear of been called names.
Just the excessively loud ones.
