Charging a second battery

Hi all, I have a trailer that I tow behind my Ultra. I want to mount a small Waeco fridge on the drawbar and install a second battery inside the trailer for when I'm stopped. If I stop anywhere for a period of time, ie camp, I have a solar panel that will charge up this 2nd battery.

Does anyone know if the Harley charging system (alternator) will be able to charge the second battery whilst riding? If so I'll be setting it up with a battery isolater so the bike battery will disconnect once stopped.

Im not sure if the HD can charge two batteries but if both batteries are in good condition before you start , it should be able to maintain both.
Hellla has an automatic isolation box that has one input and two outputs. It totally separates both systems. So your fridge can never flatten your start battery. Hope this helps.

Thanks Nomada, yes I would think it may struggle to charge while batteries are down but I agree it should be able to at least maintain whilst on the go. Oh well, I'm just about committed to trying :)
    cheers

can you securely attach the solar panel to the top of the trailer and charge while traveling

Charging two batteries should not be a problem - the alternator current output is 35-50 ampres @ 3,000 RPM

Take the car , jus kiddin`, pretty adventurous , ya should be able to set up a smart charge dual battery setup you would think as in like a 4x4 setup that isolates ya main starting battery , talk to ARB or someone like that they may be able to help or point ya in the right direction , i had it setup in me troopy , the way i see it is if ya hitch`n up a wagon ya gonna find shit to throw in it thus draggin the arsehole outa ya bike and on a big haul , heat and tyre wear would at some point have to come into the equasion , apparently trailors are brutal on rear tyres ?
Seen a few different types of trailor set ups so i guess it would depend on what type of setup to how good , bad or safe the towing , capacity and distribution of weight would be
