Got a bunch of parts together, once again some of them need  repairs,

but all good old stuff, 2 old star hubs for rebuild, & a 4 speed  lid.

l took the photos a couple of weeks or so ago its taken a while to put them on here, since then the hubs are finished, new spokes & picked up another rim at ballarat swap, ive laced them & taken to Ballarat for truing, & have the rubber fitted..

the  trans lid, needed 4 pawl carrier springs, new nuetral switch, new complete cam follower kit& lock tab, gaskets, shift shaft lever & cover,

did a bit more today, the rear brake plate is second hand & the bushing was worn out,
the brake arm flopping around in it,
didnt have any bronze but found some good brass in the bath spout, its fitted & reamed to size,
thats the off cut in the photo..the front fork leg was missing the brake drum brake tab, made a template from wood first then fitted it up to the brake plate
before making a alloy one to be welded in place , thats not the leg im using but shows what needed to be done,

l believe its a 1953-4 frame going by the top engine mount & bow leg,
it had 1 damaged thread to the rear trans plate mount, worn brake crossover bushes,
the neck (bit of rake)& speedo mount area had been cut & rewelded , with a piece of 1/2inch bar welded under the neck acting as a fork stop,
ive cut off the bar & cleaned up that area dremelled a bit of the blobby weld around the speedo mount, it was painted black at some point,
ive sanded it down it places back to bare metal hence the 2 pack red primer,i'll leave it baking in the sun all day...its ready for a 2 pack top coat, black ..
The wheels l had trued at (American Made Cycles)

wheels are finished with brake drums on,got the tyres from VPW. good price & service thanks.
.forks were an odd 5inch over, the local engineering place here in town cut 80mm of them so now 2inch over to allow the the frame rake
,they also welded the alloy brake tab to the front fork leg...4 speed lid is finished as well but thats being shelved for a hand shift box ,

usually buy old used tanks ,its the first time i've bought a new set, hand shift with fuel rod set up,
they lined up & mounted good ,but a lot of effort to get the fuel rod & parts to work, some machine time was required,
the nuts on the rear guard do up from the inside where the 2 "u" bolts mount around the frame, so's to be done before the back wheel goes on ,
l was going to weld the nuts on from the inside that way could undo from outside
when need to, but changed my mind ill go with the way it s meant. mostly bolted together now,
IM LOOKing for tank liner, & the black rubber gasket that fits between tombstone tailight & rear guard,Can anybody suggest where l might be able to source these??

In the past I,ve used 1/16" insertion rubber for the gasket, cuts nice and clean with a pair of tin snips or knife, must industrial rubber suppliers have it, clarke rubber springs to mind.

sled56, l used a lenth of rubber same profile as the piece that sits under the tin dash, nice clean edges, looks good,
the only issue doing in it that way is its now got a space between the guard & light housing since its
not a full width/lenth piece that would normally sit flat on the guard to keep the muck out,
ill pick up 3 rubber grommets next time im at clarksR.put'em in the 3 drilled holes .that'll work.
Onto Making the seat post now.there was a spring manufacturer in Airport west l use to go to,the extra's / samples/not quite right ones
were kept in a large wooden fruit box the metre square ones,,full of springs .could always find the good stuff in it..closed up a long time ago appearantly,
A compression spring manufacturer ??i'll keep looking....

good idea for seat post springs!!sled56,, ill keep an eye out,,,,making a few small parts now & then to continue on,
l can't decide on a colour,,,mixed some left overs that l had but im not sure..sampled a 2 tone with pin stripe,
    a 2 tone without pin stripe.black cream,black cream red stripe,creamwhite red stripe,
now a lemon yellow cause im out of paint,it looks more yellow in the picture than it is, i'll think about it for a week ,
