havn't done much lately, the oil tank was worse than it looked & took an age to patch the holes, cracks dents,
didnt have any gloss black so used the black denom left overs from my streetbobfix,
the tins look a differant colour in each pic all l can say is l mixed what l had & the colour is creallow..made an oil to rear guard bracket, fixed up the tailight & wired it,
my $10 swap meet head lights a 6.7/8"beam not a 7" as the origonal so a lense is proving hard to find,l can use it as is but with stock type globe..dunno yet...might leave the build for a while now till l feel like really getting into it,

Looks good, progress can be one forward and two back sometimes but the end result will be sweet. What brand of lift table is that? Just looking for one to fit my 77flh on.

    cheers

sled,,,,bought the lift at a Dandynong auction 8 years back, no brand name on it,
its had a bike or project bike on it every day since,,,just about anyway,no issues....
worth its weight in gold,,,Just think?? you wont have to get down on your knees anymore feeling for drain plugs, chain&belt adjustments, spoke cleaning,
and just about any thing you do on your bike, also look at 1 of the small $70-0$100 scissor lifts for raising one wheel at a time whilst on the lift table..

havn't done much more ,made a couple of bushings ,1 for the brake pedal ,1 for the hand shift, not much else. bought an old complete seat post so don't have to make one up, lashed out & bought a corbin-gentry solo seat, big bucks!! sourcing parts to put a motor together, got most of it, ,ordered a pinion shaft for the right case its a one year only "57" ,ill finish the crank when it arrives,,..building an oil pump from parts,,,scapped the cats eye dash for the (2 light version)instead, catseye was to much mucking around, got just about everything to finish the bike, once every thing is here ill concentrate on it .im trying to treat is as a hobby & not spend heaps of time down the shed.its kind of working out, mid October i'll be picking up the remainder of parts,,

pinion shaft arrived along with cage & roller bearings (55-57),
a new spring & a 1970 up spacer fitted with the correct end play, also 57 sportster pinion thrust washer fits,
l had the left hand nut, pinion gear, oil pump drive gear & pinion shaft nut (left overs from a later model shovel)
the right flywheels a late macasco. the 57 shafts a side oiler, check that the oil galleries line up,(shaft to flywheel) and you have flow to the crank pin..
so far the right sides all good..the con rod assemblies ready to fit as well, with new crank pin, bearings, cages, the left side wheels a later 1970's item..
they have been run together as a set before, not by me, but so im told,,,they had been balanced, but ill check all that later,
other than a bit of surface rust that ill clean up,

Yes I too have one of the comfy seats on my 77 flh and it,s bloody brilliant, I get a good laugh out of watching my mate get belted on his rigid on the shit roads we have and them listen to him bitchin about his ass and kidneys after a 100 kays or so.Call me soft but I enjoy the ride.
