Internet search time mate. Harley don't give you "an amount" for that model , you're meant to "dip-stick" the forks with a special tool which they won't sell you.

I rebuilt the forks on my 2006 Dyna ( same forks !) and found the "millilitres figure" on the net way back then.

Sorry i didn't keep a notice of the amount.

Remember it's a complete forks off the bike job on a Dyna , unlike a Softail which has a drain plug at the bottom !

Depending on your year - The Wide Glide manual for 2006 Dyna states 112mm & apx 787cc of oil.

112mm is from the top of tube to the oil with the spring out and fork fully compressed.

Umm this is my Internet search.
So for 787 of what weight oil ?? I think you can go a tad more oil with 5 weight fully synthetic oil. I've changed fork oil before and know the drill. Just after some experience for this site. 49mm forks 08 dyna.

I used 15W Castrol , easily available in K-mart on the "15% off day"

Worked fine for me , and i've used it since on Softails as well.

"The drill" with your Dyna is wheel and forks OFF THE BIKE and turned upside down and " pumped "

It's quite a palaver although not hard , Softails remove the drain plug , pump into container , refill from the top , nut back in !

The fork top nut on your Dyna also pre-loads the spring so be careful there or it'll hit you in the chin !

Loosen the nuts while still clamped in the triple trees and re-tighten them once they're back in the trees and the wheel / brake etc is all in position and correctly torqued.

In my Official HD 2006 Dyna service manual ( I've still got it !) it DOES NOT GIVE YOU an ml amount !

Cheers retroman. I'm thinking of motul 5w full synth. With a few more mills. Fast moving oil with the bit extra to keep it firm. Mate did it and worked great.

Just a heads up - your volume of oil sets your travel - measure your travel with out oil or springs in, top fork cap removed put cable tie on forks & compress forks should be about 120-125mm add your oil amount . When back togeather & on bike , go for ride & do a few stoppies [front brake only] remeasure to the cable tie .If you want you can take your fork cap off & using a syringe add or remove oil to suit .I removed 50mm at a time I had to do this because I put Works triple rated springs in & emulators plus drilled out bleed holes in forks. My fatbob takes 700mm of oil & I have 120mm of travel ,5mm to spare .Hope that helps ,the weight sets your reaction- light oil faster -heavy oil slower .

I forgot to mention that I've got wideglide forks in my fatbob 60mm longer then fatbobs & are at a good price from Harley Davidson about $120 a leg ,the first set I bought from states were just show chrome set ,scratched & marked easy .At the moment I'm running trans-oil in forks -no problems.I have done 93000klm & I still do adjustments & tuning ,but I know my bike will stay in contact with aussie shit roads at any speed & fast cornering

Tranny oil !! Alright. That'd work. I use it in my primary.

I'm not sure about using tranny oil in primary I would think it's a bit light .I have been using what I use in motor, but for last 3 primary oil changes I've been using straight sae30 engine oil instead -no problems . I though the Syn oil I was using was a bit expensive and a bit of over kill .If It works with no clutch slipage or no iron fillings stuck on magnet drain bung all should be good. Good luck
