All Harleys sound and go like a Harley, especially if you have replaced the std pipes. Pipes are cheap compared to the bike so if you find a good deal without the pipes go for it - maybe even use that as leverage to bargain down the price. As for Wide Glides / Superglides / any other model, it is a personal choice - really depends on your own personal preference - all Harleys are great !!!

As for making them go better (which we all want to do) check out this site http://www.harley-performance.com/stage-1.html - It is as an example overview only - there are millions of sites about hotting up harley engines.

welcome to the forum and good luck in your search - ps take your time and do the research before you buy - buyers are ruling the market at the time being so there is no rush...

Pretty sure up to '05 were carbies and later EFI. Displacement would also have changed, along with an extra cog added during the period you are quoting. IMportant considerations for performance and any later modifications you might plan.

    Good luck with the search.

It's been said before but I will say it again, take as many bikes for a test ride, especially with your partner. You will find the bike which most suits both of you and is most comfortable. Ask as many questions as you need to & take your time making those important decisions. Maybe book in for a ride day @ your local or nearest HD dealer. Good luck with your search, and happy riding.
