I have just changed from S-E 211 cams to 585ezy start cams ,i have noticed flat spots in the 585,s probably due to the fact that they are a more aggressive cam,but i think the 211,s have more punch the 585,s don,t come in till 3000rpm and the 211,s at 2600rpm, i have heard that there is a new starter clutch type thing on the market that stops spitting starter clutches every 2 months ( 10.5 comp, pistons 95cu kit and hellam boyz heads)if anyone no,s of the new starter system please let me no and any feedback on the 585,s would be appreciated ,they are defineatly noiser and i think the 211,s are quicker ,but in saying that if i ring its neck from 1st gear etc its screams big time ,but to get the benifit out of the 585.s i have to ride it hard ,can anyone shed any light on the subject,Cheers Speed
Interesting outcome Speed. The 211 and 585 are very similar cams (same intake close/overlap/LSA) just higher lift .585 vs .508
Might be worth trying a 4 degree advance sprocket.
thank for the feed back ,and no i hav,nt had it dyno,d to compare the difference, i have a screaming eagle 6200rpm power commander in it and our local harley mechanic said its a waste of time re-calabrating ? after the cam change, maybe change power commanders ,a dyna tec or something programable, maybe i will ride it a bit longer and try and get used to the different power curve etc etc
my Roadking is in the shop now getting S&S 551 cams installed now , was thinking bout 583 or 585 but I think they come on a bit later ,so as Ive learned the 551`s are on straight from idle till 4500 / 5000rpm wich suits the heavier bike & my riding style &also was concerned about the lift on the latter with standard springs & they need more revs to get the most from them. Im happy to have touque instant & drop off 5000 rpm wiil see how they go carn`t wait till saturday
dont wanna change the subject too much here but can someone tell me about S/E 251 cams. cheers BRUSH.
