He wasn't Filtering or Lane splitting he stopped in normal flow of traffic. If he did lane split he never would have been hit!

    Iron,
I think this guy would agree, if he had been filtering he wouldn't have been there and the DH in the cage may have missed him.
I certainly feel safer beside or in front of a car than behind it.
Although I only filter when traffic is stationary.
    Hope this guy was alright.

Poor bloke had no chance if the driver could not even see the red light or the cars stopped there!

Then to take off, that's a low, cowardly act

The EXACT same thing happened to a mate of mine. 2 cars in front to the red light, and this 67 year old runs straight into him without even hitting the brakes!! Me mates on the ground and looks up and asks, "didn't you see me" to which the old guy responds "No!! I didn't" - Then a guy who had stopped to help asked "Fuck.. what about the red light and the 2 cars in front of the biker?" "Oh" he says... " I didn't see them".

FUCKER!! I bet he was playing with his phone or stereo etc!!

Thankfully my mate has made a full recovery, but he is wigged out now, and is to scared to get back on a bike.

DADDY - I am sorry for your loss bro. :(

The other day I was reading the latest Neighbourhood watch news letter that turns up in the letter box. In this letter there was a section on safe riding for motorcyclists, any how one of the points made reference to lane splitting. Apparently here in SA, it is an offence to filter or lane split and incurs a fine, $value I can't remember now, but I can grab it out of recycling bin and post up a picture of this newsletter article tomorrow if you are interested in reading further. In this article it also mentions rules for motorized pushbikes too.

That first Vid was a case of intent, it was no accident. If you notice the hazzar lights were flashing long before they hit the bike, which would indicate intent, if not to murder! Just my opinion.

Sorry for your loss Daddyracer.  :(

Traveling in bicycle lanes is illegal too, this was mentioned in the letter also.

It is only illegal if you change lanes without indicating or use the bicycle lane or the cars are moving.

You are allowed to "safely" overtake a stationary vehicle.

FWIW I always lane split, not comfortable in riding with idiots on their smartphones. Have yelled at a few of them.

Driving around Perth this arvo and noticed a guy filtering right up next to a cop car. Coppa's didn't seem to mind. Not sure of the legality of it here in WA.

I believe that lane splitting is legal in WA, pretty sure I heard it on the radio when the commissioner answers road rule questions. The illegal part is going to the front at the traffic lights as there is a solid white line there which you are not allowed to cross.
