Albert Coleman, 68, was asked to do a trip after his friend couldn't find a replacement driver.

He was driving along the Western Ring Rd in Fawkner when the concrete piece smashed into his windscreen just before 3.30am today.

He was in one of four vehicles - along with another truck, an Australia Post van and a car - that were damaged as two people hurled rocks from an overpass, police said.

Mr Coleman said he was retiring for good after the terrifying incident.

"It shook me up," Mr Coleman told 3AW.

Had it happen while i was driving up the pacific hwy one day , pretty much in the sticks too , had the radio up loud but thought i heard a big bang , at the same time i thought i caught 2 or 3 young fellas in bright clothing outa the corner of my eye moving in the bush to my right , although it crossed my mind that these little pricks had just thrown something at me truck while doing 100km/h and odd that they were out in the sticks , it happenned in a flash and i thought nahhhh , a few hours later on getting outa the truck there was a cricket ball sized dent and paint missing from the drivers door 6-8 inches below the window , coulda been messy , i though , you little bastards , I wonder how many other innocent people got `rocked that day ?

there have been a couple of truckies die in NSW related to kids throwing objects of bridges.

People doing that stuff should be stoned to death

 This shit makes me so angry. There are so many risks involved when driving every day, without these inconsiderate, brain dead fuckheads deliberately adding to it. The sooner they get caught the better, and the courts should come down hard on these oxygen thieves, these incidents should fall under attempted murder.

News travels fast on the hwy and its nothing to see 4 or 5 trucks from north and south peal off trying to find the little shits on the overpass. Trust me when they get caught they get more then a kick in the arse.
