Red loctite, blue loctite what is the difference? According to the video on BDL beltdrives you put blue on your bolts and red on the spline inside the clutch hub. (or was it the other way around)Trouble is in Oz we dont seem to have the red for the spline, is it retaining compound, because the shop had no idea what I was talking about? Thats what I used last time and It did take a fair effort to pull the clutch hub off the spline and the compound was still hard in the splines after I pulled the hub. Just want to do it right.........for once.

Red Loctite 262 is classed as permanent, and it takes a lot of force/heat to remove.

Blue Loctite 243 is medium strength and can be removed with normal hand tools.

Any bearing supply shop will stock both.

For Aus, if you cant find loctite you can get the equivalent red and blue in Supercheap and Repco etc. Just look fo thread locker. If you need bearing fit or more specialised stuff, try bursons or some of the mor specialist motor factors or bearing shops

    Hi there

Generally the Service manual appropriate to your model bike will specify the approved grade of Loctite for whatever bolt, screw etc you are fastening.

Most good bearing supply stores carry a pretty comprehensive range.

    Cheers
