Hey guys, I've got 3 factory Harleys now and I've got an itch to build myself a bike from scratch. I really like the 50's and 60's bobber/chopper look and would like end end result like this. I've considered a few options of getting to this end result and would like some feedback from you guys that have done it all before on which way might be best. The options I see are:
- Import an old 50's Panhead in need of some loving, strip it back, chop the frame the way I want it, rebuild the motor and build the rest of the bike in the style I'm looking for. This is probably my least favourite option due to highest cost and lowest reliability of the end product.
- Buy a 90's sporty, strip it and sell off all the parts, get an S&S Panhead motor and work out how to get that to fit and go from there. It's a pre-registered bike so engineering should be easier? Not sure.
- Start from scratch with a Paughco or Kraftech wishbone frame + S&S Pan motor and build it how I want it, get it engineered and registered.
Very keen to hear pros and cons from you guys and any other suggestions you might have.
Thanks in advance
If you have a yarn to the licencing department and find out what you can do and cant do helps out and will save you money in the long run, but go from scratch with a krafttec frame for sure
Nice hard tail and good clip, dont like the idea of cutting a good shovel frame supose you could leave the tabs on
