rip ya plugs out and clean them.
use the fuel enricher (choke) as little as posable, pull it out start the bike get some revs and push it back in, hold the revs with the manual control (wrist)

Usually if I flood something I turn the throttle all the way round and then try to start it. Seems like it would do more harm than good, but it seems to work. Now someone needs to tell me I'm wrong :P

In my experience, the symptoms you describe when you did get it started could be fouled up plugs. My stock 94 can only stand to have the enrichener (it's not a choke, doesn't work the same) for a very short time. As soon as it starts, I put the enrichener back in and warm it up with careful throttle control. If I use the enrichener too much, my plugs are black and sooty, and it takes 4 or 5 clicks before she runs smooth again.

(I know, Badcooky, probably running too rich, I'm gonna look at that soon!)

As for the paint, not sure if I'd pick that if I had my bike painted, but it looks good enough that I'm not sure I'd be in a hurry to paint over it...

I've always had black bikes (Harley's anyway), but I wouldn't break my bank to change that color either...as least not straight away.
