I thought this may interest some of the guys with after-market pipes. This came from V&H via the US forum in response to my query about my BR's exhaust volume being just a bit too loud.

Big Radius 104-107db
Bigshot Staggerds with quiet baffles 99db, without quiet baffles 102db.
Stock 82-84 db.

Every 10db is double the sound.
Quietest exhaust is the Double Barrell Staggerds 95-96db.

(I reckon my stocker Rocker was about 5db !!)

someone was telling me that they tested a number of pips recently... may have been at the GC Bike Week... the loudest pipe was the V&H Short Shots... something like 122 and broke the meter

no wonder I'm going deaf

Just old age Uncle ..nothing to do with loud pipes lol

I might get a set of those loud pipes as im trying to go deaf so i cant hear the missus and kids

Fitted 'Quiet' baffles to my V&H BSS seems to have made more than 3 decibels differance. Sounds heaps better to Me
