Yes stick around Brian and don't hesitate to jump in on any Power Vision threads.

I had a dyno tune done late last year and took 4 hrs or so, done just the way you described your methodology.

Getting ready for a new build and will be starting out with Power Vision Auto Tune Pro so may have a few ?'s for you. My biggest concern is a starting map that wont hurt the motor

    Hi Ozymax,

    Thanks for your support.

Starting out with a map that is close is very important. Your best bet with that is a map created here in Australia as the international maps are of no help to you at all. They are too far away from where you need to be. Because I have done so many Power Vision Dyno tunes and full custom advance maps I may have a good starting point for you. Let me know what you are building. Engine, cams, comp, heads etc.

But I will ask though, why are you choosing the Auto tune over a full Dyno tune?? I find the difference between one of my Dyno tunes compared to the final result of an Auto tune is light years appart. Actually finding the best target air /fuel ratio with Auto tune is a guess at best. The other main area I have to question is the Ignition timing map. On the Dyno you are able to accuratly write a Timing Map that suits your engine. For now Auto tune cant do that. I think Auto tune has its place for guys in regional areas that dont have access to a Dyno Shop. I have some customers that are in that situation and are able to get their bikes running ok. But after I give it a full Dyno tune they realise how good it can really be. Something else that is so important with a new engine is running it in. Being able to moniter engine temp and air /fuel ratio and being able to make adjustments and procedure changes as the engine requires it is paramount to the life of the engine. You also have the ability to retreive data covering all the RPM ranges and throttle positions without worrying about overheating, running too lean, traffic issues and speeding fines.

Just a few things to think about. Cheers Brian.

    Hi Brian.
Reason for using the auto tune was to get the map closer as I run it in before I can get back to the dyno. Auto Tune Pro not Basic. And it maybe useful if I find the build isn't quite what I wanted and need to make some changes.

I'll PM you about a map thanks for the support
I got one from the people that supplied the unit and it was a disgrace to say the least, some cells had 2% timing. I complained and they sent a new map this time for fly by wire. Finally got one from Dynojet that looks OK'ish even though I didn't buy it from them

    Hi Ozymax,

You have thought it out well.  That is exactly how I feel you should use Auto tune. A couple of my customers are following along the same road as you and will be coming in for a Dyno tune Mid May.  Very keen to see the results. Will keep you posted.

    Cheers Brian,

Thanks Brian, I may have thought it out well but check measuring the machine work isn't looking so good unfortunately. I get the feeling this is going to be a long process
