    Hi,

I've had my Softail  for six months and still get the feeling that my feet are lifting off the foot pegs at speed on the highway.

Does this feeling ever leave you, or do I need to put running boards on my bike?

    Thanks Robbo

    Hi Will,
Still have the original bars and seat. Did yours have that feeling with the originals on?

I've never had that feeing while riding mine, I've even fitted a 3" extension kit. Front pegs are Kuryakyn flamin switchblade, and rears are flamin. I'm 6'2 and still could do with a little extra leg room.

Your not alone Robbo68 ... i`ve had my current 2008 Softail Custom for only 4 months now and i have noticed the same thing ... have a mate with a 2004 SuperGlide with forward controls and says the same thing .

I have also recently changed over from the sport bike riding and i must admit one thing i will miss is the oppertunity to stand on the footpegs and stretch the legs while riding along , i was even thinking about some small half moon running boards and have also looked at those type of pegs that have the heal rest , might be a way to go ... otherwise it might just be a case of getting used to the new riding postion .

Lets us know how it goes for ya ... cheers Tim .

Hi Tim, thanks for the feedback, I'm glad I'm not the only one thats feeling it.

I'm going to look at getting some mini footboards if I can't get used of it.

Going for a blast this weekend, joining in on a black dog ride down to Esperance!

    Cheers Robbo.

Yeah i reckon it dosnt help my situation having Low WIDE Western Bars ... feels like i am a fricken huge parachute sometimes , Lol , and considering my body size thats one bloody big parachute ... but hey i love the look and the feel at most speeds and like i said above i`ll just have to get used to the different riding postion .

    Stay upright fella`s ... Tim .

Hey there TJU my foot pegs have the fold out heel rests, check out another topic here, named Switchblade pegs, as a while back, I have posted some picsof them for others to get an idea of how they look. They are ideal on the open road, but not so good in the twisty stuff, I managed to scrape the right heel rest on my previous ride with mates.

I found the thread I was talking about, it is in the product reviews category, titled Switchblade pegs, my post was dated Jan 23 this year. Hope it helps.

Thanks 06 Softail ... yeah have been looking at those and other heal supports as well ... I think a part of it comes back to just having that extra bit support and comfort on those longer rides , especially while i`m still getting back into the whole legs forward style of riding after riding Jappa`s for so many years as it was the late 80`s early 90`s since my last Harley .

    Tim.

Hey 06 Softy ... just checked out those pics of your SwitchBlades .... Bloody wicked looking arn`t they ... nice ride ... i`m only 5'10" but i am thinking of at least a 1" or 2 extension on the forward controls as i am in the same situation as you where my knee is in line with the Air cover as well .

When i first bought my bike i nearly went with one that had one of those cool looking big screaming eagle air fillters , you know the ones that stick way out there ... felt real uncomfortable for my legs so went with the standard and now have a S&S AirStream .

    Tim .

Yeah you're right Tim S.G, as I said to you guys that day it scared the shit outta me a bit, I quickly flicked them away until we got out of those twisties.

I had the feeling of my feet sliding off at higher speeds but by changing the angle of the foot pegs helped heaps. Now I can go as fast as I like. Within the speed limits, :)
