Parts delay

I ordered a 4" combination digital speedo / analogue tacho (P/N: 70900274 - Page No: 93 in the current GMA catalogue) in late November 2012 from my local dealer.  As I own a 2010 Iron, I also ordered the fuel level sensor kit (P/N: 61200008).

I have been patiently waiting for these items to arrive and today I was informed (yet again) that the fuel level sensor kit is on back order until mid February.  WTF!!

What is going on?? Is it really that difficult to get a part from a major motorcycle manufacturer? Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get one of these units (or both the speedo and sensor) as I am getting fed up with waiting?

HD Aus - You need to lift your game.

    Thanks.

There could be a lot of things that are causing the delay and not necessarily the Dealers fault.
Did you ask them why there has been a delay and todays the 8th, so they are saying another week.

Patience grasshopper patience,I ordered a new brake pedal and two shifter pegs midway through October and they still haven't arrived yet, but they will get here one day, maybe, hopefully. Ahh stuff it i will re-order them from a different dealer and get em next week. True story!

I guess I'm  wondering if this is a dealer issue or there is a genuine delay in getting the parts to Australia.  Of the dealers who monitor this site, do any of you guys have said parts in stock?

I think you'll find that HD USA have on it back order from their supplier. Simply put, even HD are struggling to get this part and therefore regardless of who you order from, everyone would be in the same boat.
In this case the dealer is not at fault, their only fault would be that they didn't inform you earlier.
