if its just one of those round dents on the flat of the tank you could try going to a panel beater and asking if he could use a suction cup on it, they may have to spot weld a little pin onto the tank and use a slide hammer to pul it out

I bought a glue on type puller but it wasnt up to the job. I think the tanks too thick.
Took it to Ausdent in Geelong, he has done soft tails before but was reluctant to touch my 40 dyna (single central aircraft type filler) as he wasnt sure if he had room to get in and was worried about the thickness of the metal. He also wanted the tank draind and off the bike. Ive seen it done on utube by US repairers, so it can be done. There is a definate need for the same here. If anyone was thinking of a career move.

I had a Swiss dude here in Perth do a fair sized ding on my 2006 Dyna a year or 2 ago !

Goes by the name of the " Ding-King"

Did not get it out 100% , but a new tank badge made it 99.99% and I was happy to live with that

Had to take the speedo off the tank and open and lift out the fuel pump etc ( I did all of that !), all fuel gone gone gone !!

2 other "paintless dent removalists" had tried already with no joy ( and no cost to me !!)

A new rubber gasket for the tank/pump interface and I was good to go

Cost from memory $90 cash so I was well happy

The metal is 1mm thick or so , so most dudes are only used to car panel thickness ( way thinner !!).

Colour was Glacier White Pearl with red and blue wide coachlines .

Dent was across all three "colours" and was maybe 12cm long and 1cm "deep" around the original tank badge which had taken all the "grinding" !

Same guy took a dent out a mate's Ultra front guard ( fender !) 100% no dramas !!

I went through this same scenario last year, bought second hand tin ware from USA for a project, tank had a small ding from blinker contact.
I was out of work so money for a panel beater was out of the question, set to the task, viewed a few vids on U-tube and went from there, made my own tooling for the paintless method, small nylon nob on the end of a curved 12 mm rod and with a trady type heat gun worked the dent for a couple of sessions over a couple of days.

Results were remarkable, patience and attention to heat input slowly worked the dent fold out all the way until the worked tank area looked normal, although my intentions were to paint the tank any way it could have gone back on the sled. I am sure anyone could attempt this who has a bit of time and patience, the U-tube vids were a big help.
