Gear Changing?

Lately have found myself changing gears without the clutch more often.

Seems ok if you are in the right rev range, but sometimes not so good.

Just wanted to ask those with more knowledge than me, is this ok? or is there a danger of doing damage when things go wrong?

not good to clutch less at full throttle. get the right hand worked out and it should be ok for UP shifts.
plenty of guys with air shifters and Pringle electric shifters, no clutching with them.

where's daddy racer or krash they would be familiar with it

Yeah, talking about normal shifting not full throttle. Mainly up shifting, taking off from the lights etc.

Abused a few paddock bashers without any dramas, but don't want to do any damage.

i only use my clutch to take off, i never use it shifting up or down (only use it in first) its an art to get it right, otherwise you may chip the dog teeth. For me it comes from drag cars and circuit cars that have dog engagement gearbox's just like our harleys, if done correctly you will not hurt anything, if you are not able to time it right then yes you will hurt things over time.

If i'm in a hurry i dont bother with the clutch after moving off.
I keep light pressure under the gear lever and when I back off the throttle it pops into the next gear.

Its a lot less tricky to do than a 20 tonne truck with a crash box.

It's quite possible to do the same when down shifting but your liable to get compression lock up. And that could be messy.

When I was racing used to do clutchless upshifts (pressure on the lever, brief roll back on throttle, pops in) but I always used the clutch shifting down.

If you can change gears in 0.0010 sec, then yeah ya wouldn't bother

GT I always use the clutch riding normally. Dirt bikes, crotch rocket and the Harley. But if I am out and out draging (rare) the cluctch only gets used for launch and after the "run". Technique is a pesonal thing. Personally I flat change when racing.
