Vance & Hines Pipes need a Tune?

Hi everyone, I'm new to the Harley World. I bought a Sportster XL883 couple of weeks back. It has the Vance & Hines sideshots.

The owner before me admitted he didn't know much about bikes, he bought chain lube bless him when he bought the bike.

Anyhow on idle she doesn't have a steady rhythm, even when warm, it's not a slow gallop which I best is the best description

On the road she roars and flies down the road no problem, doesn't miss a beat

Someone has recommended it needs a tune and possibly a fuel management system fitted

    Something you guys recommend?

And youtube videos of the same bike running the same pipes and listen to them to see how different yours is. Harleys are a really differnt beast to most bikes.

    Cheers for the replies guys.
2006 fuel injected yes and the standard filter

Good idea with the videos too

Even if you guys service your own bikes do you get into a Harley specialist for a tune now and again?

Howdy, have you checked to see if it already has a tuner on board the bike.  Might save you having to buy one.  Don't mean for it to sound obvious but I haven't seen the bike and you mentioned the previous owner had very little idea.  I think most are crammed in under the seat somewhere usually.

    Just my 2c....

    All the best.

PS try putting your location in your profile, it will help those who live in your state/territory recommend a business or other riders who are willing to meet up and help out.

Cheers Iron Eddie, cool avatar, I'm a big maiden fan. Pretty sure it doesn't have a tuner already.

5ltrfreak did you fit and set the tuner yourself?
