Well the Dan-Moto Highwayman for the VRSC models were finally available on the website tonight, so my order has been placed for a matte black version and will be at my door in between 6-15 days, I'm just a little excited!

this thread will be used to track the progress of the zorst, from turning up, to install, and covering the finer aspects like build and sounds quality.

Stay tuned for more, I know there a few interested parties, so ill do my best to cover the questions I've had in mind and get plenty of pics and a few vids ;)

How long did the postage take for you 666? I'm away from home with work next week so the GF will get to pick up Security Module & the Dan-Moto for me (well hopefully anyway) Next weekend will be a big install weekend me thinks =)

6 days, well that should put me to have mine by the end of the week, looks like it could be an install weekend for me :)

What troubles did you have with the install? Would be good to know what I might be in for before I get to the headaches. Was your install on a Night Rod too?

Looks like mine will turn up in the mail tomorrow woot! And then the install will be on for the weekend after I pick up a couple of gaskets :)

Here's hoping I don't have too much dramas with the fitting :p

I was recommended to use the standard 'cone' style gaskets. Apparently the flat type have a habit of collapsing and pulling in.

So if I go trundling into the local HD dealer and ask for a couple of standard come gaskets for my '09 Night Rod they're not going to look at me funny?

Exhaust is on board with the local postie this morning, so the install on the weekend look to be going ahead, excitement plus ;)

Lol! If you ask for 'come' gaskets...I'm sure they'll look at you funny. If you just ask for standard gaskets...you should be fine.

Haha farking auto correct iPhone, or my simple inability to spell, whichever :p

Girlfriend has picked up the exhaust tonight (and the security module I bought). If only I wasn't away with work, I could be drooling all over it and taking pics for all to see, we'll all just need a little patience tho :p

i'm curious to see how ur your right foot sits
I find the vance & hines competition pipes
burn the back of my calf and pushes my leg out
    not a good riding position

Lem, what did u have before ?

The latest thing I have done was cut down my v&H black widows down
and cut the baffles as well
Bike went like a rocket but not the right note
then I took out the baffles - definitely louder and deeper

I ride everyday and think i might stop here
the bike is already cop bait and dont need added attention

i'm also interested to see how the dan moto clears ground cover
I think how it's positioned it'll scrap when you Lean her Ovr ( good name for a porno )

    all the best Lem

    please keep us updated

I bought my 09 this January and it was as stock as a rock, so everything I'm doing is the first mods to the bike Tony. Standard exhaust at the moment and as much as it rumbles when you lay into it, I'd rather have something more meaty at idle, hoping the Dan-Moto can deliver. Listening to hquick's vids from the 1130cc forums the pipes sounded nice to me.

I was originally going to go with the V&H 2into1, love the look and watched a few vids on YouTube that had me wet in the pants. Price was a factor and then reading all the reviews about the heat that comes off them, if the Dan-Moto turns out to be a FAIL then that's the path I'll take, but in my research I couldn't logically not try the Dan-Moto for the price.

I'm fully expecting to scrap the pipe, I've come from a CBR1000RR and I learnt my way around that bike well enough to have a red hot crack at the chicken strips on the side of the tyres. I've aleady scraped the frame of my Night Rod leaning into a round-a-bout with the GF on the back, I like to get the bike into the corners so I'm heading into this with the mindset that I'm probably going to scrape it, so if/when it happens I don't sook too much :p

I'm hoping that combined with the Thundermax (that has been sitting oin my desk patiently for two weeks) I'll get some decent poke out of the combination, but I'm certainly not expecting any dislocated shoulders.

I'm not looking to make my bike obnoxious with new pipes, I just don't like the MASSIVE stock pipes that hang off one side. I love symetry and the shorter 2into1s look awesome.

I'm close to flying home, so expect some pics of the packaging and the pipe itself later tonight (it'll be quite late, other things to attend to first ;))

Ok so I had a crack at the install today, takes a little bit of wiggling to things to line up, but I also found that I had the same problem as hquick where the exahust end doesn't quite sit flush with the header.
Unfortunately I don't have his skills so I had to rely on the gaskets filling the space once everything was tightened. I used the standard 1250cc gaskets which are flush with the edge of the header, to the exhaust port seems to be out a little and the attachment brackets are much further from the header than the stock system.
Anyway I got it to fit and all seems well. Started up and man the DanMoto has a nice rumble to it. Very low and deep, I haven't got a vid yet due to the fact that I started to get some white smoke from the headers where the exhaust ports attach. Not a lot, but it's there so I didn't want to run it for too long.
Now I'm not that mechanically knowledged so I'm a bit worried about the smoking. I've been advised I probably haven't got a good seal :(
I've left it overnight for the gasket goop to set, and I'll try again tomorrow and see how things go with the smoke again. I'm hoping it just needs time for the new goop to cure and then a start and run tomorrow will sort things out, but I'm not sure.

Can anyone advise if this just needs time, or do I need to go and pay someone to install the system better than I have?

Ok, so I revisited the bike today. After some reading last night I gave it a few more runs in the morning. The smoke was less and less each time, so turns out it was just burning residue and oil from my hands. Big relief there.

Went for a ride, bike is LOUD! Scraped the exhaust first ride too, oh well. Got the thundermax in as well, modded my airbox cover. Bike is running like a dream. Love it!

Off to bed now, pics and vids will be done during the week once I've sorted them out ;)
