I put quiet baffles in my V&H bigshots from day one and I kept meaning to put in the original ones because they were too quiet. Today I put in the originals and they are too loud. I don't really care, but I noticed a neighbour up the road giving me the death stare and when I went passed a cop car I noticed the guys head nearly snap off as I went by. He actually went to do a U-turn, but the traffic was too busy and I went "casually" down some backstreets As I got home another fucking neighbour is standing there, hands on hips and looking pissed.
I don't like my neighbours anyway (most of em), but I don't go poking them with a stick if I can help it...I'm more likely to beat them over the head with one on a moonless night. They all know I have Harleys, but for some reason this sound is more annoying? I'm not even sure I like it myself.
This is all within 5 minutes of riding with the original baffles.
So, anyone know if there's a happy medium? I was thinking quiet baffles without the fibreglass wrapping?
I've got V & H straight shots on my fatbob. I had the quiet baffles in from the start. Had the same problem, neighbours giving me stinkeye everytime I went past. I bought a set of the SMARTPARTZ HARDCORE BAFFLES, and fitted them with the recommended standard baffle.
It now sounds a little "fluffy" at idle, but the good thing is that if you take it easy, they are a fair bit quiter then the V & H quiet baffles. Give it a handful and its louder than its ever been. I've found that if I just cruise home down the street, the wife can barely hear it, give it some and she can hear it several blocks away.
I think for about 100 buck delivered, its worth a try. No mods except for one small hole in the standard baffle. If you read the website, it sounds like shit, but I've found them pretty good.
Cheers
Tim
