That's one hell of a heading. Perhaps you should type in the message box so it fits?

Poor bloke, first time poster with a good query and the only attention he gets is people picking on the way he has posted his msg!

Welcome aboard. I'd be concerned too as evo engines didn't go into big twin bikes since 1999. Why would somebody replace a 2002 softail's engine with an evo? Sounds dodgey to me. I'd stay clear of it altogether.

sounds like a bitsa bike to me, steer clear slick, buy something with correct/matching numbers and preferably service history

Personally I would be very careful. By the look of the receipt it is a total ground up build. Has it been complianced / engineered? Is it registered?

Just had a quick look, correct me if I'm wrong, but the 3 hole derby covers were deleted after 97.

I agree with the others, something not write here,

so its an 02 frame, an evo from ???, and aftermarket trans. it does look nice, if your not sure what your lookin at spend a few bucks and get a reputable shop to check it out and give u the feed back you need to feel comfortable about purchasing, looks like its had plenty spent on it.

im not sure what year the motor is, the history that ive been told of the bike is a guy got it built in vic as a show bike an he had it for 3 years clocked up 500ks on it then then sold it to a bloke in SA which was a friends old man of the bloke who has it now an its done just over 7,000ks and is in mint condition i guess ive just gota try an get it looked at from a shop only problem is the guy lives in kadina.

yeah i mean what year was the motor made, its obviously been rebuilt, but evo's finished in the late 90's and the correct motor for an 02 frame is the twin cam, thats all. just check it all thoroughly slick. there wouldnt be too many harleys that are completely standard, modification is the culture

If your a bit worried about reselling it later, what do you think a potentual buyer is going to think??

Same as you are now, that should be the answer.

If your second guessing now, you will always be second guessing.

Get something your going to be happy with from day one.

it depends as im new to HD's i dont have experience with the motors depends wheather you prefer injected or carby ive read alot of good things about the evo compared to the big twin and seem's it was a full custom ground up build and not just a cheap option engine swap and more and more people like modified bike's, i guess if you wanted to build a bike and wanting to use an evo motor to get that real lumpy feel about it then your option would be an 88 style frame or somthing newer like the 02 perhaps it was easyer to find a roller with a 230 rear end rather than go after market frame thats all i could put it down to somtimes newer isnt better.

do you guys think 16k is reasonable price, i would be happy with a newer softail with a 200 rear end but my buggets 16k and i just cant find anything els around with low ks as i do prefer a stock looking bike with a nice fat ars end and pipes and plenty of chrome but so does everyone els an thats probly why im not finding anything.

Save your money mate, even the receipt looks dodgy,

$3400.00 for the primary setup? (750 inner, 750 outer, 1900 belt drive kit) and as Kiwidave said some of those prices are way out there.

The seat doesnt fit (and doesnt appear to have the rear screw in the guard to take it)

    EV46 cam $440.00 (under $200 on ebay)

Loks like someone is trying to quantify the high price of the bike by fudging the numbers on the receipt, does he work for the government?
