    Hi Guys

Looking to find out how long Twin cam motors are lasting. All models from 88's to 103's.

Each new updated motor seems to be running hotte.

Which motor have you got, how mamy k's, what have you had to fix and when, that sort of thing.

I wouldn't mind updateing, but I've heard a bit of complaining about heat, which I think would afect long trem durability.

      Cheers DUGE

My uncle also has an 09 street bob with stage 1 upgrade. He has a bit over 60K on the clock with zero problems so far.

Solo has 170,000 k's on a TC 96 and has just replaced his motor with a new one.
Rick1310 has 130,000 k's on a TC 103 and has just done a top end rebuild.
    Look after them, they'll last..

I don't think you have to worry too much about the longeivity of the motor itself. (unless you ride very hard ). As the bike gets older, other things start to show signs of wear. Some of the other things can be almost as costly as a top end rebuild. IMO, the best thing you can do for your motor is to let them breathe ( stage 1 or above ), and regular oil changes.

Better torque for two-up riding ( and heavy set blokes). The other reason is that you don't need to worry about cam chain tensioners. These need to be inspected or replaced every 50-70000 kays. With gear drive cams, it's just a matter of having them installed once, and forget that they're there, which makes it an ideal modification if you intend on keeping the bike for a while.
