As you may be aware I have just pick up my new Street Glide from my local dealer, and spending a lot of time searching for relevant Bling and accessories. OMG, E Bay  prices are no longer cheap, although I can buy my bits from the dealer with a small VIP (new bike) discount, the retail prices are still cheaper than on line. "Go figure"  Moral of the story is to use the net as reference, but do your due diligence, and check the local dealer and aftermarket shops?

As much as some of the dealers piss me off we do need to support our local motorcycle shops. Dealers & Independent shops they all need to make a dollar and it helps keep the money in Australia. I do a bit on the net and most here in Oz.

Good to hear that local dealer parts prices are gettig more competitive - given a choice, most people will happily pay a small premium and buy locally, but when the price gap is too much, the dealers just lose the business.

Yeah, agreed. I'd always buy local, and happily pay a reasonable premium.

But if you followed another of my posts, you'd have read that I got a tool delivered to my door from the USA for almost exactly a third of the price of over the counter here.

I'd rather spend my bucks here, but it's gotta be fair.

I find postage the killer for gear. The parts might be cheaper but the postage makes it dearer then the part is here. $40 postage for a ring that weights a few ounces. $70 for a derby cover that costs that price here. I mean the cover was only $30 but the postage was $70. Got the cover here for a smidge over $50.
