Guys with True Track can you help.
Started to fit the front True Track stabilizer on my Fat bob this arvo but struck a problem.
The two brackets touch each other, hard up. That can't be right, might as well be a soild mount.
Can some one with the same please check their's. cant even get a 2 thou feeler gauge in there.
What's it like if you unbolt the tie rod ?
Mine has some clearance, but not a lot, maybe 1-2mm .
Hi Speedzter,
Yours looks good that's what I expected.
Mine sits tight even with the tie rod off.
Might try a couple of washers between the engine mount and the small bracket to space it out and give me some clearance.
How did you go on the back? any dramas?
Front mount has only got 7000ks on it.
Vertical alignment is smack on, checked it before I started.
Maybe I will grab a new mount tomorrow and see if its better before I start spacing and packed things.
Are the front and rear mounts the same? they look it.

Yeah thanks but I have all the instruction sheets. Its not rocket science.
Hey Ozy and Hilly could you measure the exact gap on your bikes.
Like I said both brackets installed without tie rod and are hard against each other. WTF.
Will email True Track as well and see what they say.
Did you guys use any Loctite on the tie rod and mounting bolts?
Thanks guys, man this is pissing me off. Maybe the bikes bent?
OK , emailed True Track and they were fantastic, emailed back three times today with help and suggestions.
I loosened engine and motor mounts and pushed and pulled the frame and motor, still no clearance.
Fitted 2 washers 0.046" between the engine mount and True Track bracket, mounted all brackets back on and now have 0.044 clearance.
Also fitted my chin spoiler back on over the top. Had to make a 6mm spacer between True Track frame mount and spoiler bracket.
This should help anyone who comes up with the same problem in the future.
Thanks for you help guys.
Cheers.
Hey Hilly,
This was their reply.
Harley is responsible for the proper alignment since you have such low mileage. Take it to a dealer. There is a lot involved in getting a proper alignment. In the mean time since you are starting over, take a flat washer, two actually, put it between the bracket and the motor mount to push the bracket out and give you more space between the two. This is will give you clearance. The normal clearance varies, not one number available. The motor mount and the frame sets this up, and no two bikes are built alike thus no one number to provide. So every bike is different. But definately needs room to move up and down.
Took the bike for a quick spin this arvo with only the front fitted. Big difference feels solid and tracks straight, was looking for grooves and ridges in the road and it goes straight thru, used to follow and track on them before.
Can't wait to fit the back one tomorrow.
