Hey all, looking at getting a new forty eight soon and i like the look of the big radius pipes, as apposed to the short shots.

I know they can fit the short shots at the dealership, are the big radius available here too?

How much they quoting you guys for Big Rads at the stealer (pipes only)?

Also I'm not sure whether looks or performance are priority here, but have a look at the dyno thread http://www.hdforums.com.au/Default.aspx?tabid=71&forumid=1&postid=482524&view=topic  you'll see two 48's, one with Straight Shot slip-ons & the other with Big Radius, same tuner, dyno & operator. The Straight Shots are pulling same HP & 6lbs more torque, IMO a better exhaust at less than half the price. Please someone correct me if I'm missing something here.

    My 2c.

Thanks Slap, although the big rads look better, i think the short shots will better suit the look i'm going for.
I also think you can't take those figures as gospel as they are done on two different bikes, you could dyno two identical stock bikes and get a different reading, you could also dyno the same bike twice on different days and get a different reading. The accuracy for testing true HP by dyno is questionable, i say run it down the strip, thats where it counts!

I understand what you're sayin. Obviously it isn't possible to test every pipe on the strip before we buy so dyno charts can be a handy indicator of what to expect. Testing conditions & parameters are similar here & the biggest difference I can see between the two bikes which would affect torque is the exhaust system. The bike with straight shots is pulling 6lbs more even on the base run, that's a considerable difference. Now to test both of those pipes on the same bike would be ideal.

Not sure how short shots would compare here.

Anyway all the best with your new purchase.
