Colac car and bike show yesterday. word has it the EPA were set up on the geelong side of town doing tests on vehicles heading to and from the show...wild guess is a few hundred bikes were about, and 80% were well above epa limits. few hotrods would have been too.
i really hope the reports are wrong. Would be a sad day that the law uses car and bike shows to target noise levels. if it is true and many recieve noise fines then i reckon this show will have a poor showing next year.
what was noticable also was the dozen or so quiet harleys that just didnt seem right. probably been pinged previously and who can keep paying the $700 odd if the epa get you . ill keep taking the risk till it hits my wallet then reassess
gota love victoria
cheers.
G'day Cactus,
Smells like a blitz on bikes to me, particularly Harleys. They were apparently set up yesterday in Sydney Road too, up the road from Harley CIty. Just thinking aloud whether this in reaction to the adverse comments from the Parliamentary Committee on Road Safety here? You are dead right about the penalties. Isn't it something like a $6,500 penalty and loss of rego if you don't comply? Strewth, you get less for murder here!!!
Even the California Highway Patrol have fitted all their Harleys with louder pipes than standard. It has saved them something like 40% less traffic accidents.
