Hi all,
This morning about to leave for bike rally at Licola in Victoria. Mate I was going with rings, and say the rally is cancelled due to fires. Get on the internet and and the whole area around Heyfield and Licola are in lockdown, roads closed etc.
About to take the swag etc, off the bike, and neighbour rings, (I live on acres in the bush), says a fire has been reported approx 5 kms away from our property. About an hour later there's smoke everywhere. On the TV and internet there is a Emergency Alert. Fuck Me. The fire is in the Millingandi area, (approx 5km from Merimbula).
About an hour ago there was a wind change moving the fire away from us. But some poor bastards are going to cop it. Life can be strange, some win , some loose.
You have to appreciate the firey's I suppose the moral of the story, dont take for granted getting on your scoot and having the wind in your face.. Ride safe.
They deserve more praise than they get. Me personally, I love Elvis. Stuck down a dead end lane during the black Saturday fires, knackered after protecting the in laws farm from fire on three sides, when he wind changes and pushes it straight down the only opening left, and from out of the smoke, dust and flames whoops a big orange saviour.
Those pilots are crazy bastards, and worth double whatever they earn.
