My WideGlide has had 3 fuel pump failures in 88000 kms. First (the original) was at about 55000k's and another 2 since then, so we are now looking at installing the 4th. Always used 95 or 98 octane. Just curious whether anyone else out there may have experienced or heard of similar issues or have any suggestions as to reasons behind such failures? cheers
I've got a 2007 Street Bob with 80K on the dial and never had a pump failure. Had the filter replaced at 40K.
I know with cars that if you continually run down the fuel to very low levels that it stuffs the pump... not sure about the Harley pump..
Appreciate the feedback Chaps ... rarely see the low fuel light these days coz the tank is kept above a third, and I use Caltex 95 mostly so fuel quality shouldn't be an issue. Bit of a friggin mystery!!
