Gooday all-Ive just recieved a redundancy payout and decided to treat myself to another Harley. Im about to take delivery of a 06 Wide Glide(Import)-it has full ADR complience and all changes have been done. Im in tassie and the bike is on the Gold Coast, it is not the first bike I have bought sight unseen and am putting my faith in human nature to be kind to me.

The Dyna only has V@H Pipes and a hi flo air filter and has apx 25,000 klm on it. My question is what am I likely to expect from the TC88? Ive read of early dramas with the first of the twin cams. Had Harley had these sorted by 06?

The Dyna will be sitting along side my 97 Road King Classic-eventually one of them will go-what do you think?

    Cheers---Dan

hi Dan I have a 2006 Dyna and have had no problems with nearly 50,000 on the dial. checked the cam guides yesterday and are about 20% wear so no problems there. But it is like a new girl freind you just don't know where she's been. You just have to mount her and then get a check up. good luck with it.

    Congrats,
I have a 2006 Lowie with 116,000 Klms up on her. Still going stronng.
Might be riding her up to QLD over weekend, got some stuff to pick up from Bro.

You shipping her down or fly/ride/Boat.

I bought a Norton down in Tassie (near Burnie) and put her on th eferry then rode her home to Sydney.
Was a great trip, although did blow about 8 fuses and spent a bit of riding with no headlight.

    Ride Safe

Hi there--two days to wait till it gets here in Hobart. A mate was telling me of stator problems with the 06 model Dynas-that they can shear off and end up costing $$$$$$$$$$
Does anyone know about this problem.

Gooday all - Got the Dyna Wide Glide last friday. Rode it all weekend. Feels and looks great. Has a real "chopper" look about it. Mrs isnt real happy with the back seat but Im getting a detachable sisssy bar this week that should keep her quiet for a bit. The bike remind me of my old Sporty a bit except bigger and heaps of power. It has Vance and Hines exhaust system that sounds awseome. I asked the bike shop about the dreaded Stator problems on the 06 models. They said some do/some dont or mine may have been fixed already?
I'll try to post a pic of it shortly.

Just a quick question fellas--My Dyna has 1.25" bars--does this taper down to 1" for the handgrips? I want to buy a set of ISO style grips off ebay--says suits all 1" bars

Gooday Hilly--got the red one-I think its called "brandywine". Pretty standard. has V@H pipes-LOUD-dont know what else has been done to it. But runs well with heaps of grunt. Im changing a few little things-I gunna get the headlight extension that Harley sells. Changing the grips. Already orderd a detachable sissy bar. probaly get some chrome axle nut covers along the line.
I am concerened about the stator problems this model apparantly has. Heard differnt things from no worries to its going to cost u heaps :-(
    Overall a great bike.

    Cheers-Dan

Thanks Hilly and Scouser- I will probaly get it done on the first service(unless its been done already?). The local HD dealership said a lot of it is how you ride and look after the bike which I guess is the same for just about any mechanical issues.

Gooday --got the detachable Sissy bar and pad from Harley (part no 52300044/52631-07)- looks sensational, like a real "sissy"bar of old. Ive fitted it without the pad as it looks better. All up it was $340-cheaper and better looking than the one with separate sideplates/bar/pad etc.
Im not a mechanic-but Im kinda starting to understand this apparant problem with the stator on the 06 models. My mechanic mate has never heard of it but he says fitting a new stator/compensator is fairy easy for him to do. What exactly happens to the current one should it fail and how does the SE kit fix it? Any idea of the price of the SE kit costs.
    Probaly worrying about nothing
