Hi forumites. I removed the top box for a photo shoot yesterday, and put my mates RK seat on for the day. Looks good? looks different thats for sure, and feels lighter and easier to get on and off.  I think i might be on the lookout for a RK / SG seat that no one needs anymore so i can do this more often. It only takes about 20 minutes to take the box off, and roll up the wiring and hide it under the seat. I used the RK seat instead of the original Ultra seat as it has a lower profile and the pillion part is only 2/3rds the height. A Street Glide seat would be good to, but i have no access to a SG seat.  I might explore the possibility of the detachable top box rack system too. Although i reckon it is a bit overpriced, but, as we know, it is a Harley. Feel free to comment. Thanks for viewing. Hutch.    This....   compared to this.

 

I'd leave it off until you need it for a trip.
IMHO it looks good either way but for a day trip striped down would be the go

mate looks the goods either way. do agree with ozymax though, leave it off until you know you will need it.

+1 with rider also. the SG or RG seat (the one that is tapers at rear and has lower profile) would look heaps better too.

Hey Rider, the photo shoot is for a mates business. I will post pics when it done. I wanted floosies too. Maybe next time. And I think the lower seat is the go, just need to find one now.

it would look awesome with a solo seat. imo tourers look mint with solo seats. its the slight round of the rear fender amongst the bags that makes it look good i think.

Looked at the mustang seats last night Scotti. They have a nice low profile one i like. I will have to save some pennies though.

Yeah really awesome quality and a blow out to see a range to suit so many brands and models and they probably still have free shipping as per heavy duty mag , i paid about AUD$740 delivered for my black studded leather mustang super touring seat with rider backrest and matching pillion backrest pad and a couple of rain covers , honestly the best money i`ve ever spent , fast and great to deal with too , it sits almost an inch lower and makes the OME seat look and feel real cheap and uncomfortable hey !
Good that the top box is fairly quick to remove and replace for ya , as it looks just as good off as it does on mate , always tempted to purchase a set of lowers , a quick detatch batwing and top box for the roadie , great ideas but a bit exxxy , but just never took the plunge , i just make do with a mustang tour bag which looks ok and fits a fair bit of gear in it , was about $280 delivered by memory ?
