Tried to replace the clutch lever on my dyna to day with no success.no slack to slip the end of the cable out of its housing. Am I right in saying that if I follow the cable to the rubber boot in the middle of the cable, slide that down I can adjust the cable to loosen it enough to remove the cable for the housing?

If this is right how do I know when I retighten the cable it will be the correct tension to work correctly?

    Any help appreciated.

the title should say Dyna not dynamic. Bloody auto correct

You really really need to invest in a manual if your going to work on your bike!

Having said that, your on the right track with loosening the cable and hen redoing it up.

correct for the adjustment location. when you take the slack out you will know if it is right when you go to pull it into gear

and let us know how the new leavers are with pics

They are only stock levers. No different then any other dyna lever. It was damaged when the bike fell over. I replaced the derby cover and I think that looks smick. Fixed the mirror now only the clutch lever to go.

A little trick David is to measure the amount of thread on the adjuster, say 18 mm for eg, slacken it all the way, change your lever which will be easy now, and then tighten the adjuster back to the same amount and it should feel exzackry the same. but by the time you read this you will have changed it already! goood luck.

No hutch not changed yet. When it's 43.9 C I don't want to be outside. I'm having a look at those manuals now.
    Thanks for the help.

I think when you adjust it to the new lever you should be able to grip the cable sheath near the lever, and pull it out one or two mil, so that you are sure the cable isn't so tight as to apply pressure to the clutch with the lever relaxed. I'm NOT an expert.
