     Hi all,

does anyone have any views on riding glasses with an open face helmet. I am having trouble with the helmet distorting the shape of the sunglasses, pushing them further off my face and then the wind getting in behind them causing my eyes to water. Any recommendations?

    Mr Chriso.......

Comes down to personal preference, helmet and head combinations, and best fit.
Some glasses will work for some people, but only with certain helmets.
Could always go the goggle route...
Me I wear bolle prowler safety glasses.

Know what you mean Chriso ... i`ve been wearing Ray Bans most of my adult life .. { feels like forever } .. have just got back into the Harley scene and that was one of the first things i noticed ... i reckon i might have to resort to wrap around sunnies to stop some of that wind getting in , have tried them before and seemed to work to some degree just dont fit snugly in your pocket due to there shape ... a small consession but worth it .

Was looking at HD glasses on fleabay, but some come with the below warning...

Thank You for L@@king! **Harley Davidson Safety Eyewear is intended for industrial safety applications and not motorcycle riding.**

    Go figure.

I wear a pair of Oakley Factory Lites.

They look the business and have polarised lenses.

I have also worn both Ray Ban & Killer Loops wrap around styles.

I'm lucky, my wife works for OPSM and I get them for free!

    Be safe

Started wearing Ugly Fish but now have a pair of Wiley X. They claim they are shatter proof, unbreakable frames and mine are suppose to adjust to the light conditions. But they cost a few bucks. I'm pretty happy with mine and wear them now even if I'm not riding. But I still have the problem getting them to sit right with a helmet on.

I get Sunglasses showing up all the time in the house, friends of my sons.
I generally try the lot and keep the ones that work.
Funny enough, its always the cheap glasses that fit better and keep the wind out of my eyes.
Also, some  of the cheap ones tend to be the best for light.
Only prob is when you get a turkey in your face, they wont help much.
Shit, I doubt that no sunglasses are gonna help with anything big.
Anyone copped a disintergrating 18 wheeler tyre belt section yet?

Have tried a few sets and can report that Wiley X are average to pretty good. They are either goggles or glases. change the strap to arms and vice versa. The buckle can press into your head (does on me) and can get annoying. Also the elastic straps dont last that long. six months and their done. They do fog sometimes. I think that you will get that with all goggles as they hug the face so well. I usually wear the visor helmet and my  normal sunnies as that is easier.

    Regards

For those with the Ugly Fish - Try removing the foam inserts! I have, and they fit better than with, and don't let any wind in. Happy!

Hey MC, you probably find the helmet is pushing them off your face because of the padding pressing on the ends of the temples (arms) of the glasses. If you use some heat (or go into an optometrist) using a hairdryer you can bend the ends so they follow down the back of your ears (e.g bend them at the top of your ears so they hook in behind). This should stop the padding inside the helmet pushing them off your face & upwards.

i rode 38 yrs + with out any glasses  & still do,    with sunglasses you can not see the oil spill's or fuel spills on the road  & are useless & night , but during the day time & @  speed they flutter  & you can not see proper ,   so i like too go naked , i find bike's are like sex     naked is the best way too do it

I had UglyFish and they were okay, but I got a pair of Fuglies ADF ballistics and they just worked so much better for me and now it's all I wear.  Again, everyone's different.

Ebay issue HD400 clear , 401 mid mirror tint and 402 dark lense work well , $30 a pair cheap and safe , i buy about 10 pair at a time 3 clear , 3 mid , 4 dark every 3 or so years , comfortable , no gasket and thin strap that ya don`t notce at all keeps them on ya face , all polycarbonate and last well deppending on how ya treat them , can get cases for them too , i carry a pair of each in the saddle bags , got a pair of blue eye goggles too which are good gear but rather wear the cheaper HD ones , don`t piss ya off as much if ya scratch or lose them .
Been smashed by a few rocks and big exploding bugs right in the middle of the lenses and thanked fuck i had em on , not sure how ya do without em daddyracer , especially when it`s bright or raining , although i have noticed more and more people riding without eye protection , i`d feel naked without em , ya woulda had some scares in that time wouldn`t ya , especially hate it when riding behind trucks or buses or patches of bugs , ya only get 2 eyes hey !

I was at a HD dealer a while back and they said they now make the ugly fish to industrial standards.... this means they can be worn at work...... this means you can claim the price on tax as a safety equipment like steelcap boots (as long as you work somewhere that requires safety glasses of course)

go forth and buy that shit...(and dont throw your reciepts)

Sounds like Ugly Fish or Wily X are the way to go ... as someone above mentioned sometimes it`s the cheapies that do the trick ... different for everyone seems to be the main thing ... except for DaddyRacer , you funny bugger ... i`ve tried the naked riding before { no sunnies that is } and its fine at low speeds but get up high and at dusk and tell me how those bugs feel , Lol ... got a good mate who has been riding for about 40 years and is half blind now ... he still rides just carefully .
