    Hey all,

went out for a ride last night with 5 others, and as we turned onto  Leach Hwy off High road,

Mr PoPo on a bike comes up behind us , we were all doing probably just under 80 in a 70 zone.

and he works his way past each of us with a handheld thing, and made each of us look at him, as he levelled off with each of us,

he had something in his hand,

mate said it was a number plate recocgnition camera,

just wondering, are we all likely to get speeding fines or Infringment notice to take bikes over pitt's for EPA noise regs

or are they just flexing there muscle, he never pulled any of us over or motioned to slow down, but just dont know waht the sneaky *&^% are up to

    anyone got any idea's

    Cheers TB1

Never heard of a motorcycle cop with a handheld pulling up beside you... sounds really weird

thought it was illegal to ride with something in your hands as it shows you dont have full control of the machinery that your opperating
guess i am reading from the opposite side of the Law book that Mr Popo has :-)

    regards

I like terroristone's answer, but in all probabilty he was probably sending his sergeant a reply SMS stating that the donuts are on the way.

local pulled up to have a chat last time we went for a ride, there was 11 of us, he said a group of 6 or more had to be checked, the usual questions, where, who we were, club affiliations.

Had to do a medical for work a few months ago.Was a nice day so we took the bikes for a spin into town. Pulled up in front of drs and just taking gear off when this guy in a suit wanders up and says nice bikes. Pulls out wallet/id says Im detective blah blah, show me ya licences. Why, wots prob? says missus and i.No prob he says, im involved in monitoring omc's and associates. Just wanna enter you in the data base.WTF? Anyway, asked a few innocuous questions, found out we were hoggies and went on his merry way.We rrckon this is fucked up. Checkin on everyone that rides an hd cos they might be in a club. fuckin bullshit. We used to go to the Lost Breed clubhouse every now and then years ago when we lived in NZ, and knew some of the boys pretty well, thru work/family etc,but thats the closest we been to bein in a club.

Anyway, reckon its just fuckkn wrong to be questioned and on a databasejust cos ya ride.

Interesting story. But I think they're not all bad. The other night I was on my way home from cricket training on my bike when I spotted a patrol car up ahead at the lights. Anyhow I followed the car for a while as we were heading in he same direction. We both pulled up at a stop sign, and I was directly behind him. I stuck out my hand indicating that I wanted him to stop. I got off my bike once he saw me with my hand up, strode up to the fella and said to him "what I'm about to say is going to be a very unusual thing to be asked from a mototorist". Anyhow I proceeded to ask him for a speed check, as the last time a mate and I were out on a ride, we had a speed reading discrepency between the two of us by at least 10 km/h, and that i just wanted peace of mind that mine was actually correct. I asked him if it was possible for him to follow me at my designated speed of 50 km, from that point to the next set of lights approximately 1 km away. He agreed, so he proceeded to follow me and after reaching the designated set of lights I pulled over into a pub car park, got off my bike again and went over to the copper. The cop said that he could only do a time and distance speed check, and said that I was doing approximately 52 km/h. I thanked him for his time, and we both went on our way.
