i know two heads jobs are better than one , twice as good , le frog lives in bitch i know
Well, it's a slow old process. The engine has new bushes and seals and is coming back together with the right shimming. The frame has been blasted and painted, and the tinware has a lovely job done on it. Some chrome has been done, more coming soon. New fork legs, 2 over, new shocks, 2 under, new bars, made up cobra seat at a local bike trimmer. September on road if I'm lucky. Oh, and got club reg for it, signed off when it was still together.
Ta. Now I've got to get the rest of the bike up to that standard - hoping I haven't set the bar too high!
Well, it's still going along at a casual old pace. Frame repainted, bottom end back together, chromework back from the platers - just waiting for some gaskets to complete the motor. Wheels awaiting new spokes to arrive.
Managed to pick up a spare '76 engine that had been re-coed but almost never run - still has hone marks in the bores! That's made the rebuild much easier and means I'll have some good bits left over, given the original motor was pretty good to start with.
New pix coming soon.
Slow progress, but progress none the less. Engine is pretty much brand new now, all properly shimmed up and everything, new gearbox bearings (cogs were okay). Front engine mount needs to be modified before assembly, but that is not far off now. As soon as the tyres arrive they'll go on the rebuilt wheel, then pop the forks and swingarm in and the 'bares on and it'll be sitting upright and rolling. Guesstimate e.t.a. maybe late August? Depends on the little stuff.
Thanks Matt. Got all the parts now, and then some. But appreciate the advice anyway. Never know when one might need it. Been building up to this project. It should be an okay bike when it's done - it wil run okay and look the part (late 60s/early70s). But I don't reckon it'll be a daily rider - got others for the slog work.
Hey Matt, thanks again. It's a learning experience. I'll post a bit more as it progresses. And then when it's complete and on the road. As you say, can't have too many bikes!
