883N Bore out vs new cylinders.

    HI Guys,

I have a 2011 iron 883 I brought new in October 11.  I have had a stage 1 kit on for the last year and easily hang with the 48's, nightsters and 1200 customs I ride with but I want to make this bike rip!

Based on other Dyno results I have seen for stage 1 883's I guess I'm pulling 60-65 HP and I want this to be in the 90's. I'm thinking my best option for this is the NHRS kits here. http://www.nrhsperformance.com/ekit8831200.shtml which look like they will get me where I want to be by porting my stock heads.

As I scroll down the page I notice there is the option to bore your stock cylinders instead of buying new ones however the option only exists for sporty's up to 2009 due to changes in construction from "09."  One of my good freinds is an engineer and could bore my cylinders out to 1200 or 1250 but does anyone know what the complications are with the 09 and later cylinders?

I'm still blown away that I can acheive 90HP with these bolt on kits and some porting.

    Chris

Cheers man, exactly what I was looking for. Looks like I'll be getting some 1250 cylinders after all.

You will need more than that work to get 90hp as well mate

Just bolt on a turbo... Then you will be in the 100 country!

Hi Guys I just heard back from Dan at NHRS and here's the setup they used on an 883 and are pulling a solid 95HP on the Dyno, results below. Since they have CNC porting and can achieve the same results every time using their own porting silhoutes and cams, I'd say it's worth the wait to ship my heads over.

NRHS stage 2 light headwork- $770
NRHS iron lined 1250 cc kit with gasket upgrade- $750
    NRHS Cat 3 cams- $315
NRHS 3” hurricane flow air cleaner
A really good 2 into 1 exhaust such as a Bassani, RB racing or Supertrapp- around $600-700
If you have fuel injection you will need a good ECM tuner such as a power commander.

Chris you can get 10% discount from Hammer too. I'll PM ya.

They have a new tech article as well definitely worth a read, it explains all the levels of head prep & supporting parts to reach different HP goals - http://hammerperf.com/883conversions.shtml

They have something new in the pipeline as well, not sure exactly but related to headwork & improved flow/power.
