Looking for any advice on what people use to sit their bike upright to do simple maintenance - like an oil change where you might want the bike to sit straight. Not looking at a bike lift as yet as I won't be doing that much, just want something that I can be confident holds the bike straignt up and secure.
Cheers, Marvin
Thanks, saw one at auto pro (WA) the other day for around that. How do you keep the bike stable on them - looked to me like they could get bumped off?
On the repco ones you can use straps to tie them on - they have points on the side where you can hook them on. I've used mine a few times without strapping them (mainly because the strap was in the way of what I was doing) and its sat there nicely. You really need to give it a good shove (presuming its sitting right) to get them off.
Ok thanks, will have a look. Cheers
Back in the day Marvin, I used to use my helmet on my 84 softail. When the bike was on the sidestand, I'd push it sideways ,to the left, until the back wheel come off the ground, all the wieght on the sidestand, then kick my helmet underneath the bike, lower bike onto helmet and back wheel stays off the ground.Or move helmet so front wheel stays off the ground. Ha! rough and ready ,but done the job. I've still got the helmet but I'd get busted if I wore it. Actually cost me $3 at the markets yrs ago. Looks like a prince charles polo helmet!!
Thanks Philthy will keep that one in mind!
ya can go one of these gadgets at $129, or.....

But the repco ones and similar from supercheap auto can be had for 98 bucks when on special, and it hold my 420kg ultra up no probs and i never use straps. Had it for 5 years now and no dramas.
Cheers, waiting for a repco one to come in tomorrow.
