    G'day All,

Looking for some thoughts on solo seats for an 08' FXSTC. I've bought a second bike and want my Softail to be a solo only, along the lines of a Le Pera Silhouette or Danny Gray weekday.

I'll keep the standard king/queen seat just in case, but the Badlander I bought not ling ago will get sold as its still in good nick.

Any other nice looking lowish seats that people have bought?

Ebay seems to be the go for price and convenience.

    Any thoughts much appreciated.

Gidday Spatacus ... have a 2008 Annaversery model myself ... like yourself have kept the oringinal king and queen and had a badlander on but felt a bit hard for my liking so have just got a Mustang solo that i can incorprate a pillion with later and while i havent racked up any big miles yet i reckon it feel heaps better than the badlander and looks better ... to me anyhow .

The original K & Q is comfortable but just dosent look right so will be kept for the missus and longer rides ... the Mustang set me back here in Brisbane $340 ... you can get them a lot cheaper online but havent done a lot of internet buying yet and am still a bit paranoid with the whole credit card details type of thing .

Hey guys both the seat and the bib are a brand called Mustang ... got them from a shop up here in a Sth East Qld called Heavy Duty... seat a lot more comfortable than Badlander and bib will keep the rear gard looking ok as i have a pillion seat on the way and i reckon after some time there is the possibility it will leave some small marks or rear fender so when pillion seat off Bib on and looking clean .

Sorry guys ... the brand name is Mustang and the actual discription is a sport solo , $340 ... Bib , $42 ... as i was saying above earlier i reckon you could get them cheaper online but not yet totally confident with the whole internet buying capper plus the shop is local and they had both in stock and i tend to be an impatient bugger when i see something i like , Lol ... tends to leave a hole in the old wallet at times .

I think Ando also mentioned the Brawler seat from Harley which from what i can make out is a very simurlar seat but Gasoline Alley didnt have one in stock at the time so my hard earned went to Heavy Duty .

    Cheers guys ... Tim .

TJU, if your worried about on line buying caper there are several reputable companies in the US but the general consensus is that M&M Cycles are the best. I bought my Mustang seat from them and they were cheaper than buying direct from Mustang plus their shipping is reasonable to.

tju, thanks for info, I know where heavy duty is, as per avatar, I bought the leather brawler seat and after riding for a few years on the custom softail seat, no comparison. Brawler seat ok around town but your arse feels it on long rides, now looking around for someone to make me a replica solo seat that is identicle to the custom softail seat.

Thanks Deadwood for the M&M hookup , will look into that angle ... have got a couple of things online such as books and they did turn up but were left on door step and luckly were still there when i got home from work ... i am going to investigate a post office box ... when i did get the books i went through Pay Pal and felt a lot more comfortable , it was the delivery this end that had me worried ... dont live in the worst suburb in Australia but sometimes i think it comes close , Lol .

Mick i reckon you have a good idear there about getting a of solo replica FXSTC seat made up as it really is more comfortable than the Badlander thats for sure , havent raked up enough miles on the Mustang yet but it sure feels better than the Badlander and i know form shouldnt win out over fuction but the original K & Q seat while comfortable just dosent do it for me around town ... if youknow your way around Brisbane there is a guy down Capalaba way in some old workshops behind Peter Gardener`s old bike shop that does bike seats ... i know his first name is John and if i can find a address i will pass it on .

    Cheers guys , Tim .

If you're worried about delivery, why not have it delivered to your place of work as an option. That's what I did when I bought stuff from interstate so I had peace of mind.

G`day all , i have a top of the range Mustang Super Touring Seat w/rider backrest on me roadie @$740 AUD worth , comfortable as , was free delivery bought online direct from Mustang a few year ago now , their site is awesome as is the quality of their gear and their good to deal with also , they have a heap of different style "model specific" seats to choose from on their site for all bikes and brands , used to be an add in Heavy Duty mag stating free shipping and delivery , although mine and the others seem to fit perfect , the only drawback is that ya can`t actually try one or see the fit unless ya know someone who`s got one on their ride locally , theres a clip of their factory and process which shows their quality , i didn`t mind the heritages solo seat comfort wise for a stock seat but a bit wide if ya looking for something more form fittin to ya ride , cheers

Hi Guys ... would love to give the delivery to work option a go but sadly boss has allready put that idear to rest saying that if i did it for one then i would have to do it for everyone ... you know , one of those bosses ... besides the fact that i work in a rather large logistics company i know how some of our recieving guys treat the incoming goods , Lol .

Got myself a post box today so i will be giving that angle a go for future buys , dont know if i got a friendly post office worker or not but only got a letter sized post box and i asked her percificaly if it would be ok for items larger than a letter to come there and i gave her a possible example such as exhaust and she said no problem as long as they wernt going to be left there for long periods of time so we will see how it goes .

Happy riding guys ... Tim .

Thanks for the input guys, gonna go with a Brawler from Harley. Looks the goods and the leather adds a bit of character.

First I gotta get the rear guard fixed up, the k&q seat has done some scuffing of the guard over the last 4 years.

    Cheers

Hey Spartacus , just put the Bib on and that will cover any marks the stock seat left ... Harley have one that matchs the Brawler seat i`m pretty sure .

    Happy Riding ... Tim .

Had a Danny Grey solo, HARD, felt harder than sitting on the pavement. Softails have the forward footpegs and seem to make you sit on your tailbone more than usual, this makes it difficult to get a comfy seat for one. Sitting in the bike rather than on it was nice but after 15 minutes it was a lot of squirming to try and be comfortable. Sold it, maybe should have taken it to a bike seat upholsterer instead to make it fit better.

For those who are courious ... just did 770 k`s on weekend and I swear it was the most comfortable I have been in years and that includes some pretty comfortable Jap Bike seats .

Its a funny thing , the seat still feels a little firm but after the long miles with only fuel stops to stretch the legs the back and arse end felt great .
