Brake upgrade??

    yes its been done, XR1200 front caliper and braided brake hose will be all you need. The caliper can be had from harley for $210

    there are clearance issues with the iron and 19"+ spoked wheels, its easily fixed by filing some off the back of the caliper.... Its a very common upgrade and well worth it.

    First thing I did was put braided lines on it, I went with P.M. Calipers over the xr1200 just cause I hate buying off the stealers

    Best low cost mod you'll do. I had no clearance issues on my 2010 Iron

    whats the total cost of this upgrade (caliper, cables and fitting) if anyone has done it in recent months? $210 for te caliper but how much for the rest? cheers.

    would there be any clearance issues doing this to a forty eight sportster ? would the caliper clear the 16" spoked wheel ?

    I got mine from HH, the hd stuff is ADR approved, if there are issues (failure/accidents) you will have a company to fall on/ sue. Don't fuck around when it comes to brakes, spend a little more and have piece of mind.

    Sorry to revive a dead thread, but does anyone have any links to a set of good brake calipers for a 2012 forty eight?
    PS wanted to sell me "Hawg Stoppers" 6 piston calipers for $500....

    And the XR brake is going to be better than my XL brake?
    What is the difference?

    Yes far better. The XR caliper is a beefier 4 piston setup.

    Take some time & do a search - all the info is there. It is a popular upgrade.

    I have brakes that work now!

    XR1200 caliper is the best thing I have done for my bike.
    Outrageous difference.
