FYI The old version as you call it is the same as the current one. When you do the software downloads it automaticly opens up the new Auto tune icon for you. Does not make any difference old or new.

     Hey guys, FYI

received my PV-1 from FuelMoto loaded with basic tune for 2007 FLSTF Arlen Ness big sukker and Rush 1.75 cans.

Flashed the tune and the bike was iimmediately smoother, cooler with no loss of power or torque (using arse dyno). Fair bit of decel pop between about 2300 to 1800 revs.

have since decreased idle to 925.

Decreased decel enleanment to 0.9 (90%) overall which has changed the decel pop to an angry burble within the same rev range.

130 k test run in around 30C temp. Bike averaged 42mpg and 235 degrees. Happy except for the burble.

have now decreased the decel enleanment to 0.8 (80%) but have not tested the bike.

Not aiming for any power from this tune, just for a sweet runner. Will do a hot power tune when I've sorted this one.

    Ron

alright guys dumb question but over searching.

wanting to start using the basic auto tune function. the question is do i need the pv remained plugged into the bike when doing the tune runs ? im guessing yes, hence sdmf's ebay bracket post but just to confirm before going down that path.

i have read the dyno jet instructions but is there any chance someone who is using the power vision auto tune function post up a bit of a step by step guide on the process ?? for something that is being generally described as dead easy there seems to be a fair few questions on it.

yep you guys got my vibe. fucking giving me the shits. have never learned well from reading. just read again for the 20th time and a think a bit more sunk in. thanks sdmf for finally providing me with an answer also. looked everywhere for that confirmation. i think my main issue is that im worried i will fuck something up.

all good i will start having a crack. will let youse know the results.

keep a copy of your current tune on your PC if your worried about stuffing things up.
Connect up the PV and read the book while you are doing the inputs.
some times easier to get the hang of things while doing it rather than just reading.

If you always leave a copy of yor std tune and your best tune at the bottom (slot5) of the page, you can make a mess of everything else and then easily go back to where you were. While you are learning always leave the knock control on and try to keave your timing tables reasonably low and you should normally be fine.

You will get to a point where everything will fit together and it will all make sense ;)

    Cheers- Ant

Hey Spinner how is the tune going?
I am putting together a similar build but only have the stock 103 map to start out from so not sure how it will run initially.
How did you get a suitable map from DynoJet? I couldn't find anything close to a modified 107 on their lists.

Bike is running fine have done some more tuning runs and everything seems good.

The map I started with was created by dynojet in the states, I sent them a email explaining my build specifications and they sent me a map, I have to say the bike ran fine except for a bit of a stumble down low but after a few tuning runs all sems fine ,runs rear smooth down low a really has good kick when the cams start working it has a real strong mid range and top end even with the pipes I am running freedom drag pipes I have a set of d&d bobcats on order which should make things even better.

    G'day,

If you start off with a map that kind of suits your bike and then by enabling auto tune it basically fine tunes the map on the fly why wouldn't you just leave auto tune running all the time? Why is there a need to save the map and then send it to the PC-V?

I get that you may want to keep a backup or something however does this mean once you are happy with the way the bike is running do you then disable auto tune after you have sent the map to the PC-V?

    Cheers, very interesting thread.

from what I understand auto tune does not adjust the existing map but provides data that you can then impose the updates to your existing map.

Progressively data logging and updating should get your map closer and closer.
however there are some things that won't happen, like added timing. It will only deduct timing not add it

having said that I am a looooong way from coming to terms with this

so i tried to get a auto tune run happening today. after selecting the map that i want to tune (fuel moto supplied map) it tries to load then i get a message about closed loop bias. ?? can i change this myself so it will let me select the map to tune. i also tried to select my original map but got the same message. any help would be great.

edit :  spoke to jamie @ fuel moto.  i need to get the auto tune pro kit as i do not have O2 sensors.  i had already established that (no O2 sensors part) & as directed by the PV info pdf was slecting the basic tune.  apparently thats not the case & i will need to spend another 500 to get the kit if i want to do any further improvements to my map.  spewin.
