Clutch on 79 shovel

     Is the clutch on a 79 shovel classed as a wet or dry clutch.The reason for the question is that it dosnt appear to be in a oil bath but oil is pumped in and out of the primary case.

     yes it's a drip oil feed too the primary chain  with a so called dry clutch  it has a scavange system so the pri covers have to be air tight for the system too work or it will not pick up the oil too return back, then you will have oil biuld-up in the pri,   the clutch plate's need too be cleaned every 6 mth's or year because they get gummed up,

     Thanks for the reply.

    According to the manual I downloaded to do a clutch inspection you also need to remove the primary chain.I I was just going to clean the plates etc woudl the removal of the primary chain be necessary.
