I'll most likely organise my own assistance. But yes, probably a Triumph rider too, unless it was an old Triumph.

I wave/nod to all. Being a superficial brand snob was something that I thought ended in high school (at least for most).

If a pretty woman on a virago wanted to give me a blow job I'd kindly oblige

I always give a wave or at least an exaggerated nod when passing another bike no matter what the make or model...
I do however notice that a lot of the japper riders do not seem to like to return it so often when I am on the Harley...
not a problem when I ride the japper tho lol

are people really that intimidated by a make of bike??

When I lived closer to the city and rode a sports bike, always used to get nods in return except from cruiser riders.

Now living further out in the country and riding a harley I don't seem to get nods in return from anybody.

I get more of a kick nodding or waving to riders of scooters and mopeds, all L and P platers when passing or meeting them at lights.
They're usually so surprised that anyone would think to acknowledge them.

Other Harley riders generally, appear too busy trying to look "bad", stupid skull face masks, novelty helmets and the like.
Jap bike riders seem a mixed bunch, some nod, some don't.

I come from an era where a bloke used to wave to anyone on a bike.

This is a Tassie riders personal perspective, could be different on the North Island.

like you fatslim, from an era when every one [well almost everyone] acknowledged other riders, what you rode didnt matter.those days arent with us anymore.looks like some are to busy holding on tight to wave or nod.even hd riders today couldnt wave.didnt matter, i had a good ride at my pace, followed roads that eventually got me home the long way.

Its funny. If you meet someone at a Garage, they will always say gooday if you acknowledge them.
On the bike, totally different thing. I use to get more acknowledgement from 1%ers then any other type.

Plenty of bikes out and about today for the local SA Toy Run. I've always waved, and have never felt slighted if it wasn't returned.  Today: Japper sports bikes- fuck all waves. Tourers of any make- always a nod or a wave. Resto and other odd types of bikes- mixed bag; seemed somewhat surprised a Harley punter would acknowledge them, and react nervously after you passed them. Harley riders: depended on how shiny their boots were????, if you know what I mean. Costs ya nothing to acknowledge a fellow rider. Don't matter what ya ride! Just sayin'!

I simply think of a nod or wave as a greeting and common courtesy to other riders...
I will give a nod or wave depending on the situation and I dont really care if it returned...
just my way of saying gday mate... yet another fellow rider enjoying what we all enjoy so much...
the fresh air and the wind in your face and the pleasure of the cruise.... no matter if it is just to the shops or interstate.
its all about the ride and the kindred spirits to me :)

Interesting I went for a ride late yesterday around the hills with the girl on the back. Didn't do the Toy Run but plenty of bikes still riding around the hills. Got a nod or finger lift from nearly everyone we passed. Maybe I dont look to intimidatingcool
