Are sportsters only good for 1 up?

A badlander seat makes it comfortable for two but weight would be a problem for long rides. Just not made for 2 largeish bums in my opinion.
I've ridden buddied up to about 175kg but only for reasonably short distances.

Skull, I have set mine up great for 2 up riding. It is a 05 1200R, have the seat modified by Ergo seats at Capalaba, sissy bar, Ikon front springs with 15wt oil and 50mm spacers, Ikon rear shocks with 3 spring adjustment and 4 damperning adjustment. Ride 2 up as much as I can and have no problems at all with it. We are always showing our number plate to the big twins as they can't keep up with us through the twisties. We would be 170kg combined then plus saddle bags and the rest of the gear with no problems for us.
So fix up your suspension as the std HD ones suck big time and you will be good to go.

I replaced the front springs myself. Actually had progressive ones in it I took out and gave back to the Stealer (Morgan & Wacker) as well as the rear shocks, long story.
Anyway I have 15wt oil in them and also 2" spacers made out of conduit and a couple of washers to give that little bit extra after the last oil change.
A little trick to know if you want to do the change and put extra preload in, is to know where the thread of the cap will take up in the tube. Best way is to do a test run with no pressure and mark the cap and tube in an easy spot for you to see when you are trying to force them together under pressure. This sure does make it easier for when you push them together and turn the cap knowing that the thread will catch straight away and not blindly spinning the cap trying to get the thread to take up in the tube.
Hope this helps you guy's.
