Just wondering has anyone put one of these on their 103 yet?

I read the article in heavy duty magazine and they sound like a good option, I have mate who has the +1 on his 95 cube motor and he says it is great.

I have one ready to go on in Feb at the next service, my bike is the 2012 Road King. I am then heading to Tassie.

Hollywood let us all know if you get one of the Baker Sump's, I read it as well and I think it might have been in American Cruiser magazine as well. They sound good, I have a 2012 Road King as well so I'd be interested in finding out if they work and how much it costs.

     Hi Guys,

No not from Victoria, but Port Macquarie, NSW.

I am definitely getting one fitted in Feb so will let you know how it runs, but it should definitely improve the situation, am not interested in the fan, I think the additional oil will be better for the motor long term.

This might sound like a really dumb question and I'm not that technically minded but it appears all the literature on the Baker + 1.5 talks very favourably about the reduction in oil temperature especially when the ambient temperature is high. I live in Canberra and some winter mornings the ambient temperature could be between -3 and -5 plus you add the wind chill factor makes it "bloody cold". So my question is how would more extreme cold temperatures effect the oil, if the Baker oil pan is already cooling the oil, then you add the cooling effect of the ambient temperature, will the oil be to cool!!

I realise the the 103 engines do run hot and will run hot in winter as well, but as I said my question might be stupid and no one has mentioned running the Baker oil pan is cool climates.

I'd be interested in your thoughts

     Hi Bill,

Not really a stupid question, but I suppose the ambient factor would have some effect but considering an operating temperature probably will have a + or - factor depending on riding location. But generally if the motor has the ability to rotate the amount oil effectively and the motor is running cooler then longevity with less wear and tear is the bonus.

I am not an engineer but considering the summer temps and higher operating temps of the oil with less oil then the wear and tear will be greater, I do change my oil every 4000 km.

I have a mate who has the Baker +1 on his 95cu motor and said it is operating far better.

That's encouraging to hear of someone who has actually got one installed. They seem like a good idea. I sent off an email to Baker technicians so once I get a reply I'll post it. Thanks Hollywood for your post.

I got the following response from James Simonelli, Sales & Technical Baker Drivetrain; "I recommend that you check the running oil temperature of the oil on a hot day. If the oil temp rises above 215 degrees F, you are a good candidate for the pan. You cannot “over cool” the oil with this pan, thanks James".

At this price not going to happen for my bike

    Hi Paul!

Our +1 oil pans are $499, shipping to Australia would be around $177.  As far as a dealer in Australia, you may want to try Rollies.  You can also purchase direct from BAKER if you would prefer.

    Thank you!

Have fitted a Baker +1 to my 01 RK a year ago & have ridden in all weather conditions and have nothing but praise, the oil temp is down & oil condition is better thanks to the extra litre in the system.
Another benefit of the Baker pan is the integrated mounts for rear stabilisers, I fitted a True-Track unit at the same time as the +1 with noticeable improvements to the road handling characteristics of the heavy bugger.
    100% happy

    That`s 8 hundo for the 1.5 right , they`d also fit the 96ci donks wouldn`t they , or is the +1 , 96ci specific , did ya see a price for them also ?

Hey Baloffski , i know they had the +1 but more recently released the +1.5 , just wondering what the prices are on both and whether they fit 96 & Up donks or if the +1 was specifically for the 96ci only ?
Both should be universal one would think though ?
    Cheers

The $800 is for the +1.5.

Not sure on the +1 price but it would be cheaper. Regarding the motor fitment, the +1 would suit the 96 but +1.5 would fit the 96.
