Is there anyone there that has installed a tow hitch on a softail and tows a little trailer behind, If so could you let me know brand , particularly of hitch, and the positives and negatives of the brand you have and suppliers name ect
Im looking to get a custom trailer made that I can tow around around a solo quad powered paraglider around. Havnt seen one on a softail with bobtail, but im told they are available.
cheers folks and happy new year to all
Mick I had a trailer and tow hitch for my Heritage... The trailer was used to tour Tasmania a couple of years ago. Classic Trailers in QLD manufactured the trailer. I bought it second hand here in Adelaide, New Bearings and converted to LED Lights and New Wiring. The tow hitch I bought from The same place and had it wired here in Adelaide using a Plug system rather than splicing into the wiring. The tow hitch is still in the garage but the trailer has gone. FYI I wore a tyre in 5K touring Tasmania from Adelaide with the wife on the back, So they are hard on tyres. And you have to set them up pretty accurately otherwise they will sway behind you. I found that out after trial and error. The hitch was pretty well made, however I had to make some adjustments due to my bike have floor boards for the passenger. Their hitch is designed to be used with pegs... Other than that they are well made. Expensive but well made..
Appeciate that a lot AJ, If im reading your post right, im thinking your hitch is frame mounted from the front of your fender struts/rear peg mount and lower frame. Ive seen some on heritages that use the whole rear fender struts, not keen on them as they suit the full rear guard, not a bobtail. But thanks for info, im gunna contact them as soon as there open for buisness after break. The whole paraglider weighs 90 kgs and is pinned so would easily fit in that trailer in your pic.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
