OBD II Bluetooth engine analyser

I am interested to know if anybody has the "Portable Dashboard" app set up on their Smart phone with the associated OBD II Bluetooth engine analyser dongle plugged into the engine analyser connection under the seat.

    There are Youtube videos showing the operation of this set up (google Portable Dashboard) where the Smart phone is attached to the Handlebars/tank top and the smartphone screen through the app shows engine parameters;

    * RPM

    *MPH

    *Fuel level and m/g

    *GPS

    *Altitude

    *Temperature outside temp?

    *Gear

    *Voltage

    *Engine temp

    *Miles left in tank

*7 warning lamps- fuel, oil, security battery engine lamp, temp and fan?

By the way it is a free app.  I wonder if it only works in the USA as most of the USA vehicles have to be OBD II compliant, I am certainly interested in this set up but I have baulked as I dont know if 5HD--------- Vins are OBD II compliant.

If anyone has this setup give up a post with all the issues and pit falls, I am sure there will be interest.

Lol, most on here barley know how to use a computer let alone a smart phone! Harley's still stuck in the dark ages dude! It's going to take a generation or 2 to catch up with the tech!

A lot of cars have OBD ports now and ages ago we had some software (it was free) and a OBD bluetooth (or maybe it was a wireless link?) thingy that did all this shit on an android phone. It was interesting for about a couple of days...and I planned to intergrate a data pad in the car coz it would look cool...and then I couldn't be bothered anymore and drank a beer and washed the bike instead.

Did you end up working out if it will work?
I've just ordered a Bluetooth obd thing for the wife's mini that will work with the Garmin GPS units we have. I will try it on the Ultra once it gets here and let you know.
Any idea where the port is on a Tourer?

Fuuny, I just found my bluetooth OBDII yesterday and today the thread pops up again. If it looked like less pissing around I'd rig it up myself.

    G'day Gents,
I was looking at putting a tacho on my 07 Deuce & possibly moving the gauges onto the handlebars ,rather than having to look down on the tank(had an fxr for 20 years so not used to tank mounted gauge).
Seems like a fair bit of work especially if you want the "dresser)set up -4 gauges.
These andriod apps seem to incorporate nearly everything in whatever size screen you want.
I am also a not very computer savy, but if i understand what I've read you need a obd11 Bluetooth dongle that plugs into the data link -but that appears to be a 4 pin deutch plug and the obd part is a different input -so I presume there is a cable of some sort required?
I'll ask what Pauli asked -does any one have one on the bike ,but also what is required for setup & approx cost
To SDMF -its not lazyness -its what the fuck is this -(wtfit)-also I'm the bloke you had to help put pics of my bike on the forum-which was much appreciated but now they're gone?? (page 29 softails pics)- any ideas????
I know its a bit like working in a sheltered workshop, but I have a certificate from the Govt that says I'm not to bright & we all know the gov't never get it wrong??
You did say most of us barley know how to use a computer-so i guess that's why we ask so many questions??
    Cheers Wayco

That looks like a "make your own lead" page, which would put me off. Feel free to hunt around and see if anyone has made them to sell.

Being a good lad ,& studying hard, & like Bonkerz I'm not keen on "make u r own" so I have tried to work out an answer, but need it confirmed by the tech boffins.
It appears there are no commercially available cables H-D data link to obd2 required for blutooth to phone.
it appears that what is required ;( I ) h-d se tuner cable kit -32184-08a approx $60 -4 pin deutsch to 9 pin dp9 serial rs 232 plug.
(2 ) 1 male to male serial 9 pin dp9 serial rs 232 adaptor -approx $10 to join h-d cable to obd2 cable.
    (3) obd2 to dp9 cable-ebay approx$5-10-http://www.ebay.com/itm/OBD2-16Pin-to-DB9-Serial-Port-RS232-Adapter-Cable-140cm-/261055165129?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash=item3cc819b2c9&vxp=mtr
(4 ) Blutooth obd2 dongle thingymbob to send data to phone -approx $50 -ebay -the net.-varies in $$
It seems that it will cost around $130 approx to get hardware to run the software-which can vary in price,+ a weatherproof cover for u r phone -varies on quality + price & then a phone with the required capability for the program.
Any opinions appreciated as to whether this will work.
    Cheers Wayco.

I have purchased all the components that is required for this and will be fabricating one up shortly, I am presently working away and wont be home for another 3 weeks. So far the all up cost for the do it your self is about $50 AUD, I still have to buy cable, will keep this posting on this thread, may even try my hand at installing a few pics.

My Garmin Mechanic with ecoRoute HD arrived the other day and works fine with an old Garmin GPS in the Caprice so I am very interested in seeing if this works.
