today, my battery was down a bit, we fukd with the fuel lines and found that after cranking it till it was nearly dead that the line had a kink.

anyway as i rode off and hit about 70-80 the bike just lost electirical. i rolled over and turned ignition on and off and away i went, it did it a couple more times then it stopped....

was it just due to low battery votage?

    cheers and merry xmas guys.

are u sure it lost electrical and not fuel? Sounds like it could be not getting enough fuel at the higher speed.

    what bike?

Hey Contractor I had a similar problem about 12 months ago, shop didnt even pick it up whilst doing a service (may not have cut out whilst they test drove it), turned out that the contacts under the ignition had come apart (1987 ignition) If you have an older bike it might be worth checkin? Base of the ignition was contacting where it shouldnt or not contacting where it should and bike was cutting out competley. Not much fun on the South Eastern in peak hour.

yer similar thing happened to me, on bloody freeway. pulled over and she started again, it was definetly fuel related.

im upgrading to a single fire ignition in coming weeks so that may well solve any electrical issue, il go over the system while im doing it also.

    farkin bikes....88 model

i would check charging system to make sure that she is charging back too the battery 14.5 volt's , then clean fuel cock,  & check coil if it get hot after running  if it gets too hot it's stuffed  , after that the module ign box

Sorry to drop in, but while talking evos.....my 98 fxd just got a full service, mew pipes, ss carb fitted. Plus new gel battery. Wouldnt kick over... Ten was farting and carrying on. It finally started, went inside to grab helmet and jacket, it stopped running, then looked at battery, the bloody terminal(negative)had melted....like solder.....melted right off, left a big melted hole in battery.

Just my opinion, but I'd reckon it was more likely to be loose connection at that terminal, or bad contact. The amount of power it would take to melt that terminal from power passing through it would be quite big and would surely have burnt out the wiring somewhere else before melting the terminal.

On 240 volt stuff, I've had bad/poor connections that have arced out (sort of like a welder) and melted the brass terminals of fuse blocks and so on. Seems all it needs is a poor connection, which then gets hot, which then snowballs to the point of melting stuff.
